For some reason, when I'm sick, it's the only time I get 7up instead of Sprite.

AdolfOliverBush 12-12-2023 11:11 AM

Take enough nighttime medicine that you sleep through the entire illness.

This is what my husband does. He munches on chips and OJ for whatever time he wakes up...lol.

Jewish Rabbi 12-12-2023 11:20 AM

Camp out in the bathroom at Kohl’s.

For kids, I'm not sure. NyQuil or Benedryl maybe? Lol For adults, a Hot Toddy has been a "remedy" for many years. I would imagine booze of any kind works, if you can keep it down.

Katipan 12-12-2023 11:28 AM

Its Squirt for upset tummies, you neanderthals.

Not everyone is in the mood for that when fighting a stomach bug.

MatriculatingHank 12-12-2023 11:32 AM

Sprite, Banana popsicles, and faith that it will soon pass!

ChiefsCountry 12-12-2023 11:36 AM

Chicken noodle soup, Sprite

scho63 12-12-2023 11:53 AM

Antifreeze

kepp 12-12-2023 11:53 AM

Ginger capsules. Or any ginger ale that actually has ginger (not sure if any of them do anymore). Then pedialyte when you can tolerate it.

The Franchise 12-12-2023 11:55 AM

Suffer through it.

TLO 12-12-2023 12:00 PM

I had the absolute worst stomach flu in 2019. It started out with a fever and body aches, but soon turned into vomiting. The fever, body aches, and vomiting subsided, but then came the diarrhea. Let me tell you... There's nothing quite like drinking various colors of Gatorade only to watch those same colors come firing out my ass at warp speed only a few moments after drinking it.

Horrible.

LoneWolf 12-12-2023 12:07 PM

I had a stomach bug with a horrible cough right after Thanksgiving. You ever tried to clench your butthole while having a coughing fit? It can't be done.

RIP Nike sweat pants. You put up a good fight.

MatriculatingHank 12-12-2023 12:14 PM

Seriously, I would pay at least $300 each year for a vaccine that would keep you from getting the stomach flu.
Think about it.. If you were shitting like a mad man and throwing up your guts and someone said "For $300, I can make that stop" wouldn't you gladly pay them???

Puke
Piss out my ass
Go through 3 rolls of tp and 2 packs of baby wipes

Supportive therapy is all you can do. No need to take Immodium if you're at home (and you should be). Hydrate with something that will replenish your electrolytes and give you some calories, and eat relatively bland foods. There isn't evidence for the BRAT diet.

Also, there is no such thing as the stomach flu. The flu is a respiratory virus. You probably have a norovirus. Suffer through and remember that it should be short-lived.

Fish 12-12-2023 12:47 PM

The 7up/Sprite wive's tale remedy...

Like "Here, kid have a bunch of sugar water. It'll help with the shitting."

loochy 12-12-2023 01:13 PM

There's nothing you can do, really. Just try as hard as you can to keep hydrated so you don't get even sicker. Other than that, you just have to wait it out.

Would semen help? When you look at the breakdown of nutrients it has its hard to argue there's something better to ingest

Squirt? Isn't that what you do when you have a stomach bug?

I'd say 7-up however it was sugar not HFCS back in the day. And Premium Saltines, not the cheap kind.

Add some good peanut butter (crunchy only) to the crackers once you can stand it.

ptlyon 12-12-2023 01:41 PM

Blackberry brandy. A bottle of it.

George Liquor 12-12-2023 02:37 PM

My daughter had it last year and puked all over me, then it went through my house like the Rage virus from 28 Days Later. Laid on the couch for about 36 hrs trying to not shit my pants and throw up on myself. Nothing really worked.

seclark 12-12-2023 02:52 PM

I drink 2 packets of liquid iv every day and take 2 airborne w/elderberry. Haven’thad the flu in a few years. If it gets bad, ginger ale and spiced rum.
But the best is to stay away from you sick ****s.
sec

dlphg9 12-12-2023 02:55 PM

We've got flu running through our house. Ive barely been out of bed in the last 24 hours. All 3 of my daughters have it. I had to take my middle child to the ER for it on Sunday, because I've never seen her that sick. I can't remember being this sick ever since I've been an adult.

Fever, extreme body aches, cough, headache. I've never been so sore in my life.

Yep, flu doesn't make you puke. I don't think I've ever had the actual flu before, unless I had it when I was a kid and this is miserable.

Activated Charcoal Capsules. Your welcome

loochy 12-12-2023 04:27 PM

consume the vomit and diarrhea to regain the nutrients lost from expelling said substances from your body

you'll feel amazing later on

feel free to thank me now

Easy 6 12-12-2023 04:38 PM

Not much you can do but treat the symptoms once you have it besides eat light foods and drinks, and get plenty of sleep

The real trick is not getting a full blown case in the first place, and to that I end I'll tell you my secret for not getting anything worse than a minor case of the sniffles thats gone on a day or two at worst

When covid first hit the guidance was that vitamins C, D, and Zinc could go a long way to minimizing the worst of it, so I for the past 4 years I've taken 2000mg of C, 50mcg of D, and 50mg of Zinc RELIGIOUSLY with breakfast every single morning... and as I said, I've never had anything worse than mild sniffles in all those years since

An ounce of prevention > pound of cure

I honestly cannot stand the taste of 7up or Sprite because my Dad used to dish it out like a gospel miracle cure if we got sick. Got food poisoning from a crab cake once and every orifice turned into a two way interstate. Can't even look at them to this day without a gag reflex.

Rather have to give oral sex to every member of The View under the table without something to cleanse my pallet in-between rounds than ever look at breaded crab again.

Hope that helped your stomach Mr. Wizard. I'm here to help. :thumb:

philfree 12-12-2023 04:44 PM

Shit it out is pretty much all you can do. Besides that hydrate and smoke plenty of weed.

Inspector 12-12-2023 04:46 PM

Me?

I usually puke a lot.

(Eww, just thinking about it makes me...........Oh, gotta go........)

Bump 12-12-2023 04:52 PM

ginger ale, sleep and hydration. I had that last year from some spring rolls I bought at Costco, it sucked but got over it after 2 days.

Chief Roundup 12-12-2023 05:54 PM

Pedialyte or Gatorlyte whichever you like better along with the things you mentioned.

BryanBusby 12-12-2023 06:06 PM

Hot wings. Burns the bad shit right out of you.

And Fiber O's. Make that shit nice n hearty.

ArrowHeader 12-12-2023 06:49 PM

I usually lay on the side of the bed closest to the bathroom and wait for relief or death.

This is what I drink Pedialyte or any of the adult versions. they are not so full of glucose like Gatoraids. Don't use anti-diarrheal as it tends to dehydrate you. Fill the bowl with your water ass. You want whatever caused it out of you. Oh, and this is important, tp-butt wipes- paper and plastic grocery bags work but inspect for holes first when it comes out both barrels you want to remain seated.

I know most of us are conditioned to call it the "stomach flu", but as pointed out earlier in the thread it's not actually the flu.

Eleazar 12-12-2023 08:57 PM

I had a bout of this a couple of months ago that was so bad I couldn't sit up or stand up without barfing. I was flat on my back unless I was drinking Gatorade or destroying a bathroom. Then 24 hours later it was gone.
