If the Ravens beat the 49ers...

Rest Mahomes, Kelce, Chris Jones, Sneed, Bolton and McDuffie until the playoffs.

Yes.

RunKC 12-24-2023 06:44 PM

We can still get the 2 seed when Miami losses to the Ravens or Bills. Ideally we can rest guys in week 18

Coochie liquor 12-24-2023 06:46 PM

6 players riding the bench for 3 straight games. What could go wrong??

TwistedChief 12-24-2023 06:47 PM

Clay and BWillie onboard.

Seems destined to succeed.

My thoughts as well.

There's got to be a line between using them conservatively and having them revert to preseason shape.

Edit: Not to mention, I'd be pissed if I paid the price to watch them in the frigging snow and they were sat down just to rest.

People don't forget how to play football.

Rest is way way better than risking injury to our 34 year old TE.

Look at the rest college teams get until their bowl games.

FloridaMan88 12-24-2023 06:50 PM

If the Ravens go on to lose to Miami and Pittsburgh and Miami loses to Buffalo… that strategy will look questionable.

Rainbarrel 12-24-2023 06:50 PM

The new receivers don't need in game work!

With Mahomes, Kelce and all starters

Best22 12-24-2023 06:53 PM

They’d be rusty

Offense needs to get in rhythm

TLO 12-24-2023 06:54 PM

No. Go for the 2 seed.

LMAO Yeah, let's develop no chemistry between Mahomes and James whatsoever

This is crazy talk. We still haven't even clinched the AFC West.

Do we want to lose 3 straight to end season and go in weak as ****.

Exactly

The last two times we got the 2 seed, we hosted the AFCCG because the top seeds choked.

It would be after tomorrow’s game since the Ravens play the 49ers tomorrow night.

But still not a smart idea… too much can still happen, including the #1 seed still being in play.

Oh yeah if you beat the Raiders and the Niners win go for it.

But being healthy and fresh if that doesn't happen is more important than fighting for a seed that doesn't matter.

Rainbarrel 12-24-2023 07:03 PM

Backups could overcompensate and get injured. Then your reserves are screwed

Pasta Little Brioni 12-24-2023 07:04 PM

They don’t forget but they get cold. Practice doesn’t simulate game speed. No coach is going to do that.

I don’t know if you can call what this year‘s offense looks like a rhythm. More of the gyrating actions of a testosterone laden teenager. A bunch of quick work followed by disappointment.

ThyKingdomCome15 12-24-2023 07:32 PM

Let's be brutally honest. These sloppy joes have not earned time off. I found my drooling over Justin Jefferson catching balls in heavy traffic today. (Our guys drop it even when they're open.)

Eleazar 12-24-2023 07:41 PM

Seems to me like the offense could use all the reps they can get

KC_Connection 12-24-2023 07:41 PM

Denver can easily win out with their schedule, so we'd probably miss the playoffs if we did that. And even if we didn't, the #2 seed still carries significant value.

I just find it inherently funny that you posted you were drilling over Justin Jefferson‘s balls.

RaidersOftheCellar 12-24-2023 08:01 PM

Ridiculous. These last games are important to try to get the offense into a groove and to see if James or someone else can emerge as a reliable weapon.

Resting starters for more than one week is a bad idea anyway.

lose 2 of the last 3 and Denver win out leaves Chiefs out in the cold

The offense looks more like Reid Air Raid stuff just recently.

That gets guys open against man easier so that's good.

The issue is our WR's definitely are screwing up the new plays more so what you said about needing reps is exactly right.

O.city 12-24-2023 08:25 PM

Keep playing and hope no one gets hurt

The 2 seed will draw a shit bird 7 seed and you hope the 1 gets knocked out

Hoover 12-24-2023 09:31 PM

You want the 2 seed.

Because the Ravens can be beaten and you still end up with the AFC Championship game in KC. It’s almost like people forget that you don’t need the 1 seed to end up with it.

Would suck to beat the ravens and the. Go to Miami for the AFC championship game. Although seeing Pat dominate on the road in the playoffs is something I was to experience

Hog's Gone Fishin 12-24-2023 10:22 PM

Our offense has sucked this year, lets keep it that way.

They were technically Mullen's balls and Jefferson coming through in the clutch. (Not counting the last ball.)

I've seen too much rust lately. Keep playing and figure out how to hold on to the balls. Still needs improvement. Besides, still too much to be decided.....

They can 100% get rusty and out of game shape. Lack of work can also lead to increased injury problems. You dumb as a bum.

Playing less football is much safer than playing football. I don't even know how you could dispute.

If Mahomes or Kelce go down with injury, we are done. I'm more worried about Kelce than anything. He's taking a beating this year because we were too stupid to get another WR.

Why Not? 12-24-2023 11:34 PM

Definitely not next week. Perhaps in week 18 depending on how things shake out. But I don't see any scenario where the Chiefs don't have anything to play for in week 18. How's this...get up 38-0 at half on the Chargers and then sit everyone.

Decades from now scholars will find my posts and be astonished that so many of you disagreed with me. It will be like when Galileo was imprisoned for disagreeing with the Catholic Church about the Earth being the center of the universe. It will like when Christopher Columbus sailed out to sea to prove the world was not round. It will be like the Egyptian hieroglyphics that foretold the future and showed our modern technology.

Remember the first Super Bowl team was a lock for the 3 seed until New England got upset and it landed us the 2 seed and eventually homefield in the AFC title game. Obviously we want Buffalo at home but we want Miami at home too, especially in January.

Browns already went into Baltimore and won once. So did the Colts with Minshew at QB. That's 2 of the current 3 wild card teams that have wins in Baltimore, and we know the Bills are capable of doing that. We want the 2 seed if we can get it.

Chiefs4TheWin 12-25-2023 02:45 AM

Don't we have Miami to catch?

CupidStunt 12-25-2023 05:13 AM

Win out and let the chips fall. I'm hoping for the 2 rather than the 3, if not the 1, and avoiding Buffalo as the 6th seed. Cleveland seems likely the 5 with a soft schedule. Let's be real, give me any other wildcard imposter over a team with a legit QB.

Exactly, there’s plenty to play for and blowing off 3 games is a ridiculous idea.
