Jason Kelce retiring [probably]

Good. Now I can hate that bitch ass team without any reservations.

Keep podcasting, Jason. You're a nice guy.

Straight, No Chaser 01-16-2024 06:57 AM

Wonder if he would consider playing either Tackle position next year? Could do the podcasts together at Trav's place.

Why Not? 01-16-2024 06:58 AM

Right move. He looked totally washed the second half of the season. Great career.

smithandrew051 01-16-2024 06:59 AM

I’m happy he got to win a ring, but even happier that he only won 1.

Gravedigger 01-16-2024 07:00 AM

Not a bad thing to fall back on, your family, your podcast, new ventures abound, alot of guys who retire don't have what they should setup and I'm sure Travis will keep doing it with him to help him transition into retirement and Jason will likely do the same when Travis decides to hang it up even if Taylor and Travis go for the long haul.

The Eagles sure did fold up like a cheap tent this season, but I have a lot of respect for Jason. Now their Mom won't have to wear a double jersey.

neech 01-16-2024 07:04 AM

My favorite Eagles player, he knows when to hang it up. Jason gave it his best and now its time to move on from the game.

KC_Lee 01-16-2024 07:05 AM

Great player. seems like a good guy, had a great career, hit tip to you Mr. Kelce.

Frazod 01-16-2024 07:13 AM

Now he can be a full time Chiefs fan!

So maybe he retired from being a HOF center and now will move on to being an old average LT?

kcfan75 01-16-2024 07:29 AM

Happy for him, save your knees and spend that time with your kids.

Probably well below average. Dude is tiny for an OL

ChiTown 01-16-2024 07:37 AM

Stud. I hate the Iggles, but JK was a beast and a great dude. Tip
o the cap on an amazing career.

Womble 01-16-2024 07:38 AM

Can he run routes and catch the ball?

nychief 01-16-2024 07:41 AM

He is going to be a great TV personality.

DaFace 01-16-2024 07:50 AM

It looked pretty obvious that was the case based on his sideline demeanor at the end of the game. Congrats to a legend.

He doesn't even need to mess with losing time to that.

He has the podcast, he can go the Neil Smith route and open a local restaurant (Jasons Phillys). Maybe buy a local arena league team(kidding).

Get a statue put up next to Rocky

Otter 01-16-2024 08:06 AM

Retiring with 7 figures at the ripe old age of 36. I'm jelly.

Rainbarrel 01-16-2024 08:06 AM

Being an unwaxed surfboard had to have been taxing

morphius 01-16-2024 08:13 AM

The trainwreck that was the end of their season probably made this an easier choice for him. No way he wants to play through rebuilding.

Pasta Little Brioni 01-16-2024 08:13 AM

He was cooked at the end of the year

Rasputin 01-16-2024 08:17 AM

I admire a guy who plays for the same team and retires for that team. Seems pretty rare thing. It would be crushing if Trav finished his career somewhere else but I don't think he will.

Good luck to Jason Kelce post NFL career.

The ONLY reason he might ever even slightly consider leaving Patrick and Andy would be to go play with his brother. That’s no longer an issue.

stevieray 01-16-2024 08:27 AM

Salute to one of the good guys who was/is an awesome role model for all of us.

Lzen 01-16-2024 08:31 AM

Mad respect for Jason Kelce. He was a warrior. But yeah, he knew it was time. He had a great career and I'm glad he was able to win one. I'm also glad he wasn't able to win that second one. :)

srvy 01-16-2024 08:33 AM

Not my center!! But I wish him well moving forward in his retirement. Seems like a really good dude.

ChiefaRoo 01-16-2024 08:45 AM

Wish all good things for him. He’ll be fine. Nice family and he’s Mama Kelce’s favorite.

wazu 01-16-2024 08:51 AM

The Netflix show "Kelce" is a really good watch for anybody who hasn't seen it. There's a lot there as a Chiefs fan, with some pretty powerful moments that involve Travis. Just a great show overall, though.

Gary Cooper 01-16-2024 08:54 AM

Does this mean the Tush Push is over?

Kman34 01-16-2024 08:54 AM

Congrats on a great career Jason.. You are a good guy… That being said RIP stupid tush push… That shit we not be as good without him..

lawrenceRaider 01-16-2024 08:58 AM

That's a shame. Easily my favorite Kelce.

Not that I don't like Travis, he's a funny dude living it up like a guy in his position should.

KCUnited 01-16-2024 09:00 AM

There’s only one thing left to do……get his brother another ring

LFG

The Bucs showed how to defend it last night - jump over the pile and drag Hurts backwards by his facemask.

Good luck to Jason Kelce post NFL career.

I wish there was a clause in the CBA to allow for a cap exemption for a percentage of the contract of a "Hometown Hero"

Like, if you drafted a player, and that player has played for you at least 8 years, and made X amount of Pro Bowls or X amount of All-Pros, then only 70% of their contract would count against the cap. You could have 2 Hometown Hero contracts per season.

Or something like that, designed to help teams keep players that fans don't want to lose. Because, the thought of players like CJ or TK playing somewhere sucks. Imagine if we ever had to see DT in another uniform. Imagine what a gut punch it would be if Kelce had said he wants to be paid his actual value, and he had to go to another team to get it.

Fans deserve to have those truly beloved players stay, if the player wants to stay.

InChiefsHeaven 01-16-2024 10:13 AM

Goddam warrior. No stink on you Jason. Enjoy your new life.

That's a really good idea. I hate seeing guys play for another team in their last year or two.

mabbott 01-16-2024 10:31 AM

I had a feeling this would be his last year. I think he thought they were so close that they could get back to the SB this year and then .... BOOM.. that team imploded!

He is set up well for retirement! On to his second career!

Eleazar 01-16-2024 10:40 AM

Great career. The only Eagle I liked. Hope he enjoys his retirement.

arrowheadnation 01-16-2024 10:57 AM

For those who don't follow the New Heights podcast closely, Jason and his family have become MASSIVELY popular. You can find tons of youtube comments and twitter posts of Swifties saying that they "came to the podcast for Travis, but stayed for Jason, Kylie, and the kids."

suzzer99 01-16-2024 11:13 AM

It'll be interesting to see how the tush push does w/o Kelce.

Megatron96 01-16-2024 11:17 AM

Sad day if you're a Jason Kelce fan, though we all saw it coming, of course. Always was a fan of Jason (not-so-secretly hoped for many years that he somehow would come to KC), and it'll be strange to watch the Eagles next season without him leading his OL onto the field.

Congrats to a HoFer/SB winner and a great human being. Good Luck in your next endeavor, Jason.

My daughter (who is 32) loves Kylie. Also Travis, but that's another matter.

Vita Vea was absolutely manhandling him in the game last night. Kinda sad to watch, because you knew it was over.

Well deserved retirement for a future Hall of Famer and apparent all around good guy. You had a fantastic career, Jason. Thanks for the entertainment.

Molitoth 01-16-2024 11:54 AM

It would be nice to get him on the roster next season in some form.

luv 01-16-2024 12:01 PM

I'm kind of anxious to see what he'll do next. He's a great podcaster, and he'd be a great commentator. I could also see him becoming an o-line coach. Seems like he'd also be a good fit working with his wife for the Eagles Autism charity. Or just taking a little time off to be with his babies and decide which direction he wants to take.

Whatever he does, he'll be good at it.

DRM08 01-16-2024 12:05 PM

Good decision. Eagles are a dumpster fire. No sense in torturing his body to stay with that team. Happy for his family that he can spend more time with them now.

Wasn't that on Amazon? It was great to see and you can tell he barely came back this season.

If you set aside that stupid shove play, he seemed like a nice guy and he helped us get Travis. He got a Super Bowl win and kept the cheating patriots from cheating their way to a trophy, and then he lost a Super Bowl to the Kansas City Chiefs, so he's okay in my book.

On the podcast yesterday, Jason Kelce basically refutes the report that he's made a final decision, saying he needs some time after the game. Still definitely sounds like he's retiring. After watching "Kelce", I would have been surprised to see him come back even if they had a great year.

Yeah, I'll edit the thread title since he says it's not official, but I'd be really surprised if he talks himself into coming back. Sounds like the Eagles are probably in for a pretty big transition with at least some of Brandon Graham, Fletcher Cox, and Lane Johnson moving on and probably some coaches as well. I don't get the feeling Jason wants to be a part of a rebuild no matter how minor.

Pasta Little Brioni 01-18-2024 04:32 PM

Eagles proving just how quickly windows close

He sounded pretty emotional at the end of that conversation in the podcast. Also used the word “leak” when dismissing the media reports. A leak is usually reporting the truth. He should have called it a fabrication, but he called it a leak and got emotional on the subject. It sure feels like he is retiring, but he wants to announce it on his terms instead of media people doing it.

Yeah, he got emotional and then they cut.

I'm guessing he got emotional at the end of the game and a young guy assumed he was done. I think He feels done, but he needs to make sure its the right call.

Kiimo 01-18-2024 05:41 PM

I think he also has a ton of people he wants to thank in a scripted moment and doesn't want some media outlet saying that for him.

But I would think he's gone, I'm sure he isn't interested in another year of Siriani, that whole team quit on him.

The fact that they're bringing him back is asinine
