Who's going to the parade & rally?

Any advice is appreciated

In! Booked rooms weeks ago!

irafreak 02-12-2024 06:41 AM

Yes any advice. I'd be driving in from out of state. How early to get there?. Where to park? Best places to be?

Frazod 02-12-2024 06:43 AM

Last year Pat was so hammered that he nearly fell off the top of the bus. I hope they outfit him with a safety harness this year!

Sassy Squatch 02-12-2024 07:12 AM

LMAO I can't even imagine how bad it'll be of its confirmed Swift will show up

Why Not? 02-12-2024 07:15 AM

Looks like it's starting a little earlier this year, which is good. Rally at Union set for 1245. Last year it was at 2. If Swift is there, it may set a record for biggest crowd in parade history. Not even sure the city could handle that. Love it.

FloridaMan88 02-12-2024 07:18 AM

60 degree weather forecast in KC on Wednesday.

Thinking about going, what time would I have to camp out for a spot near the stage?

Or am I too late already haha

6 am to get a good spot, I would say. We did that last year. This year we are gonna post up on the route

Why Not? 02-12-2024 08:00 AM

Does anyone know if you can put chairs along the parade route like the night before or early in the morning of?

Just pay some bums to save you space. A few bottles of MD 2020 Orange Jubilee and you can block out 15 feet of prime real estate.

Rainbarrel 02-12-2024 08:03 AM

Miami, Phoenix, Vegas

Pushead2 02-12-2024 08:09 AM

One last question for the veterans of the parade!

What time do the stage events end? Just looking to plan my flights accordingly.

scho63 02-12-2024 08:11 AM

If this was Friday instead of Wednesday, I could have flown in from Chicago.

Damn......:(

I’d estimate around 145-2 local.

Do you think it's doable to make a 5pm flight?

Just basing this on my experience, but you're going to have an incredibly tough time making that. It's effectively gridlocked leaving anywhere near the parade for hours.

Marcellus 02-12-2024 08:39 AM

I am there. Missed the last 2 wont miss this one.

Do you watch the second half of that game? Anything is doable!

but traffic will suck ass, so prepare for that. Honestly the way to do it would be to jog your happy ass a few miles away from Union Station and get an Uber there.

R Clark 02-12-2024 08:47 AM

Went last yr was real close to stage , after 3-4 light weights puked right beside us said screw it an left . Got a room with a balcony over looking this yr

irafreak 02-12-2024 09:13 AM

Some good information here...so maybe park anywhere outside downtown kc and just have an uber drop you off 5 miles away at 4am and hoof it in the dark to union Station? What could go wrong?

Dunerdr 02-12-2024 09:13 AM

I went last year. It was just weed smoke everywhere kind of sucked for me and my 9 year old. He wants to go again this year so we probably will. Taking my 5 year old daughter. I think our plan will be to get to the beginning of the route this year. My son wants to try to get some autographs. I'm going to put his jersey on a piece of thin plywood with a sharpie tied to it.

irafreak 02-12-2024 09:17 AM

Can anyone weigh in on trying to be up front for the parade or better to be at the end by the stage?

The players get out and 'mingle' with the crowd more towards the end of the route,

Once they pass, people start heading down towards Union Station.

IMO, your best bet is just to go down to the Hill early and get a good spot.

Rukdafaidas 02-12-2024 10:09 AM

The WW1 Museum is selling parking passes for $50.

I was just thinking about if I’d go this year. For the CPers going on the parade route, where we meeting up at?

I'm going to try to sit on the wall in front of the historic museum monument, across the road from the Union Station. That's where me and KurtCobain hung out at the Parade four years ago.
Would be cool to meet more cpers

Dartgod 02-13-2024 08:26 AM

I went to the last two, but not going to do it this year. It sucks, because the weather will be waaaay nicer than before. But I just don't want to deal with getting there so early in order to get a great spot and then wait 4 hours.

pugsnotdrugs19 02-13-2024 08:28 AM

The type of offseason that you genuinely love and don’t mind when it goes slow.

Let’s do this!

I've found I can show up right before the start time and find room along the parade route, then just walk down to watch the Union Station stuff from the lawn. I never understand all the people who try to get out there at 6am and just sit/stand around for half a day.

I'm going to stay the night in the Union Station parking garage and get out there at 6 am to get a good spot. It's part of the experience. I'm ****ing stoked to be surrounded by a million ravage Chiefs fans like me.

Molitoth 02-13-2024 03:39 PM

If you plan on meeting up with people, pick a meeting spot before you head there because once you get there the cell service may be garbage to completely non-existent.
I think they bring in some mobile towers now to help, but unsure how good it helps.

KS Smitty 02-13-2024 04:06 PM

Another parking option if you have deep pockets...

Don't forget to park with us at MCC Penn Valley Campus tomorrow! $30 per car, starting at 8am. We accept Cash, Credit Card & Venmo.
There will be two entrances to the lots - one off of 31st street between Jefferson & Pennsylvania, and one off of 33rd Street across from Browne's Irish Marketplace.
This is a fundraiser to support the KC St. Patrick's Day Parade as well as MCC student initiatives.

Titty Meat 02-13-2024 04:12 PM

If you don't mind walking I live about 3 miles away. Not a bad walk especially when its nice out

The cell service is one of two reasons I’m considering not going now; I may be taking the day off but that doesn’t mean my customers are and I can’t go hours with service for my work phone.

The other is with a definite “no” that Taylor Swift won’t be in attendance, I expect it’ll be an even more packed mad house.

I’ll plan better next year for the 3peat parade and book a hotel room in the area well in advance.

bevischief 02-13-2024 04:54 PM

I will probably be there with next one.

Okay. Just so you know most of the hijinx happen before the stage show, along the parade route to it.

BigRedChief 02-13-2024 10:13 PM

For us out of towners…..

If you have the NFL network, you can watch or record the SB victory parsde. It’s on from noon eastern time to 2:00 pm eastern time.

Went in 2020; walked about 3.5 miles each way. Was really cold. Didn't make it last year. Taking the day off and heading out around 10am. Going to park somewhere around Pennsylvania and Lynwood to cut a bit off the walk, hopefully...

It's gonna be cray cray...

Rasputin 02-13-2024 10:46 PM

Looks like KSHB 41 in KC last year. I'm on their Live You Tube channel, but nothing yet...

Just found this on google search:

"FOX4 will be live streaming the parade and rally on air and on fox4kc.com for all of Chiefs Kingdom to watch."

It's so weird not having a psychopath as a boss. I called last night at about 7 to take today off and watch the parade. She said "Oh, where are you going? I'm going too!"

Uh, no, I'm just sitting at home and watching it live.
