Eagles want to eliminate the onside kick

And I hope it eventually happens. A 4th and 20 was proposed. Probably 4th and 10 or 15 would be perfect since the onside kick almost never works.

**** you Philadelphia.

RealSNR 03-13-2024 04:52 PM

The 4th and 20 shit is stupid. So is 4th and 10 and 4th and 15 and 4th and 69.

The whole point of allowing teams a double possession was due to the kickoff rules. The kickoff is the reason why it's possible within the frame of the rules. Otherwise allowing a team to double up on a possession is a dumb idea.

You want to get rid of the onside kick? Then just get rid of a team's chance at an extra possession.

jerryaldini 03-13-2024 04:54 PM

This shit just makes the games even more uncomfortable to watch for a team like the chiefs that doesn't need these gimmicks. No lead is safe. Just don't get down two scores and you won't have to worry about it.

FloridaMan88 03-13-2024 04:56 PM

Problem with the 4th and 20 idea is that a bullshit penalty from the NFL’s mostly trash refs would get an automatic conversion.

RealSNR 03-13-2024 04:56 PM

Watch. The analytics are going to come out and claim you should go for the extra possession every time you score, and that will mean coaches like Sirianni and all the other annoying young whale humpers like him and McDaniel will attempt it.

That's sloppy football and I don't want to watch that shit.

philfree 03-13-2024 04:58 PM

It would really suck to get the QB killed on a 4th and 20 which is a known blitz situation.

Kiimo 03-13-2024 04:59 PM

Shouldn't you all be wandering around eating horse shit and drinking paint straight from the can

There are rumored stipulations that you can’t do that unless it’s an onside kick situation at the end of a game.

Womble 03-13-2024 05:07 PM

Eagles trying to take attention away from their 1yard scrum I see.

Onside kicks are fine. Ban the tush push.

penchief 03-13-2024 05:08 PM

I'd rather the league eliminate that ridiculous rugby play.

If they allow us to have 4th and 15 or 4th and 20 we may never lose again

RedinTexas 03-13-2024 05:40 PM

Huge advantage to teams that have powerful offenses.

displacedinMN 03-13-2024 05:43 PM

Fine, trade the onside kick for ending the tush push

kccrow 03-13-2024 05:44 PM

Also was a proposal by 7 teams to extend the trade deadline. 1 to week 9 and 6 to week 10.

It makes a lot of sense to have it be week 10 IMO and I think that one might get passed.

Tush push has likely already ended. The Eagles were the only team that was actually successful with it and that was b/c of Jason Kelce who is now retired.

Beat me to it !

saphojunkie 03-13-2024 06:00 PM

only if they get rid of DPI on underthrown balls.

kccrow 03-13-2024 06:03 PM

Changes to kickoffs have made it so that the kicking team recovers it about 3.2% of the time instead of 13.2% of the time as it was before. That's more than significant.

A 4th and 20 conversion is around 7% while 4th and 15 is around 21%.

I'd say it's not that bad of an option if we're being realistic about it.

KC_Connection 03-13-2024 06:04 PM

This rule change would favor Mahomes over any other team. I'm all for it.

DRM08 03-13-2024 06:10 PM

I don't like this at all because of the penalty factor. Makes the conversion way more likely to happen than it should be.

I think a lot of it is Halen being a fullback but the execution is certainly going to be a concern without Kelce.

Yeah dude. They felt the burn of Mahomes. I’m surprised by this.

tredadda 03-13-2024 06:45 PM

Can’t tush push for 20 yards, not sure why they would propose that idea.

Does work comp pay a players salary when they are out for injury. Would it free up space to trade say if your rt got hurt heading into the playoffs so you trade for on the tail end of a contract?

Curé 03-13-2024 07:03 PM

The Eagles can **** right off.

I hear the Bills are proposing a rule change that every kick that goes wide right is worth 4 points.

Stop screwing with the kicking game. there's nothing wrong with the foot part of football.

Bl00dyBizkitz 03-13-2024 07:14 PM

Does the NFL even want special teams anymore? Seriously, what does everyone have against the onside kick?

dannybcaitlyn 03-13-2024 07:18 PM

Just leave it alone and quit with the rule changes.

1 BILLION percent true!

MahomesKnows 03-13-2024 07:36 PM

Give the Eagles credit, they stay busy. Spending tons of money, tampering with players and proposing rule changes all at the same time.

Pasta Little Brioni 03-13-2024 07:44 PM

Dumb

tyecopeland 03-13-2024 08:16 PM

Just do make it take it and be done with it.
