Belichick agrees to coach UNC with stipulations
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Update: Belichick has agreed to become the next UNC coach. Belichick handed the school a 400 page “organizational bible” with structure, payment plans, staffing choices etc. decisions on whether to commit with UNC. He is expected to know their decision within 24 hours <a href="https://t.co/DAV2yX9Mn5">https://t.co/DAV2yX9Mn5</a></p>— Ollie Connolly (@OllieConnolly) <a href="https://twitter.com/OllieConnolly/status/1866522057791668538?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">December 10, 2024</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

O.city quick with the edit but not quick enough!!

I honestly hope he does really good. But this is a wild decision to leap into the NIL era.
|
Any employee that gives me a 400 page bible will not be working for me.
|
Very strange move by Belichick.
Coaching at a school where basketball will always be #1, and a program that hasn’t shown much capacity to spend big in NIL. |
Bet that book sold on ebay for $99.95
|
LOL, this is all about getting his son a HC job.
|
400 pages? Pass.

It is actually an interesting decision
A school of this caliber will give him full control Colleges look the other way when you break rules But most of all… bellichick was still a great coach at New England toward the end but I don’t think he’ll ever run a legit offense without Brady. Nor will he find a qb better than jimmy garropalo. He can win in college without a good qb or one where you can hide all their weaknesses |
How many coeds are in these stipulations???
|
I clearly don't have the obsession with work as guys like him. You're 72, Bill. You've got more money than 99.9% of the country. Retire. Relax.
I can't imagine suddenly having to deal with a bunch of college kids for a living at that age. |
The wording on this is really weird. This sounds like negotiations. He hasn't agreed to anything really. He's told them what he wants to coach there and they get to respond. But it's set up and worded in a way that makes UNC look like the bad guy if they say no.

uncsa is one of the top filmmaking schools in the world. the teachers are well-educated and care about their students. the education is hands on and practical.

Told you.
The guy sees the chance to end his career as the emperor of a football program. |

There are helicopter parents and then there are parents who write 400 pages of requirements that will make their kid successful at a job they're demanding to be required later.

Holy shit lmao, I bet UNC does this.

The book is actually just a 400 page wish list of the co-eds from UNC he's going to bang.

It’s funny how this man and Brady, who I’ve despised for so many years (and still do, and everything bad they brought to football and their entitled sports market)… I almost have a soft spot for him now because he seems to be one of the biggest supporters of the chiefs outside of our market. And he’s one of the few that actually understands what it’s like to be Goliath and all the noise from critics that come with it.
But still… **** that guy |
I'll believe it when I see it.

Bill going to UNC is kinda like when Andy Kauffman entered pro wrestling but would only fight women.

Eric Mangini doesn't think this is going to work either.

I think the NIL era is going to help Bill over traditional recruiting IMO. Players will line up to play for a legend, so just like they did for Saban at Alabama, Bill should benefit. And if these players know anything about those two men, then Bill will definitely benefit.
Just nail recruiting in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, & Florida and get those NIL lottery tickets. |
Having to deal with boosters/alumni/donors, more restrictions on practice time compared to the NFL, and college players having the power to transfer every year are going to be his biggest adjustments to the college game.

Luckiest coach in NFL history. Gets Tom Brady in the 6th rd and does absolutely **** all without him.
I wish the football God’s would have bless Marty with such luck. God knows he deserved it. |
apparently his first words as coach are "beat duke" I would have used a different word but the sentiment is right

Also had the one of the greatest who took well below the average salary for great qbs during his time |
He'll either do well and get UNC to some bowl games because kids will want to play for him or it will be like Charlie Weis at KU

That was the genius of Saban… taking that type of culture and molding it in a way that worked and appealed to 18-22 year olds. |

Meh. Bill accepted the NYJ job then resigned before ever coaching a game, right? Like I said, I'll believe it when I see it. |
I'm thinking smart top talent will want to play for him.
|
UNC’s schedule next season looks comparable to all of those years of playing shitty AFC Least teams during Belichick’s peak dynasty seasons with the Patriots.
Not exactly a gauntlet. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GeoOay0W...jpg&name=large |
End of an era for the biggest cheater in NFL history. The guy, along with his buddy Ernie Adams, screwed many teams with spygate. And then Bill pretended that he thought it was legal. The problem was he had all his cameramen dress up in "Kraft Productions" outfits to avoid detection.
He will now NEVER beat Shula for most wins, and Andy will surpass him soon enough. |
Quote:
Clearly, he pushed the envelope too far (and honestly I think it was a much larger league-wide pandemic and they got caught) but he never did something as inglorious as Sean Payton. |
