Fantastic Four First Steps

I like the look of this. A retro Fantastic Four like the old classic comics.

Well, after all the suck that's happened, we'll see if Marvel has the magic touch.

I will say, I'm a giant fan of Ebon Moss-Bachrach

kcgreene 02-04-2025 10:45 AM

It's great that Galactus actually looks like Galactus and not a space fart.

dlphg9 02-04-2025 11:02 AM

I just have a feeling this is going to go down as a top 5 marvel film.

Fish 02-04-2025 12:02 PM

I always thought the Fantastic 4 were too goofy for me to really enjoy in the comics. Their powers weren't really that impressive and I thought they were kind of boring.

This certainly looks better than the previous F4 movies though. At least Johnny doesn't have to do the lame "Flame on!"

Agreed. Fantastic 4 was always lame af, IMO.

Buuuuut I always felt the same way about Iron Man and Thor growing up as well and the MCU turned them into a couple of my favorite superheroes.

Yes, yes, and yes.

I'm going to try and be patient with Shalla-Bal as the Surfer and not Norrin, but I'm not going to like it.

Pepe Silvia 02-04-2025 05:58 PM

How many of these have they made now? I enjoyed a couple of them but still.

This will be the 5th F4 film technically.

Quirky shit like this always does well. Look at WandaVision.

Is Wanda Vision viewed as a success? I haven't paid much attention to much, but I thought it got rolled up into all the other TV stuff that got panned.

FWIW: I really enjoyed it. A lot. I think "What is grief if not love persevering?" is the best, most profound well written line in the MCU, maybe in all of cinema in the last 30 years. Other than being profoundly hot, I didn't have much room in my life for Elizabeth Olsen and the Scarlett Witch, but this was really well acted, and pretty deep character building.

Oh yeah, WandaVision is viewed as one of the only successful projects to come out after the Infinity Saga. It has a 7.9 on IMDB and a 92% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Glad to hear it.

Hopefully they can make more like that and less of the lazy crap.

Kman34 02-11-2025 09:54 AM

I’m sorry but it looks terrible…

Fish 04-17-2025 09:55 AM

Silver Surfer has titties.... ?

I want this to be good, but man, I'm not having great feelings about this, and Shalla-Bal as the Surfer is one of the reasons. Just, why? Norrin Radd as the Silver Surfer is and has been one of the most popular characters Marvel has to offer, not his girlfriend from his home planet. With all the multiverse and variant stuff they've introduced, there's no telling where they'll take the story or who they'll bring in or where this is going to go (especially if they're laying groundwork for Secret Wars), but this just feels like a big tactical error by Fiege right now.

If you know the YouTube channel Nerdrotic, you know he has a very specific slant to his takes and on Hollywood in general. He has said that he's hearing this movie is going to be a heavy Susan Richards story, and that early reviews are coming back saying it's very hamfisted. The actors do well with their parts, and the casting has graded out well (even if I feel Pedro Pascal was a miss), but the story just isn't great. I trust him on his movie takes, generally, but I hope he's off on this one.

lawrenceRaider 04-17-2025 01:25 PM

I've loved FF since I was a kid. This doesn't look great so far, and I'm not a fan of Pedro as Reed. Hoping for the best, but prepared to never actually see this movie if the reviews aren't good.

Deberg_1990 04-17-2025 03:01 PM

Is that the DEI silver surfer??

ThaVirus 04-17-2025 03:03 PM

Interesting. I never gave two shits about Fantastic Four but I’m optimistic about this one. Silver Surfer isn’t generally a character who’s full of personality so I’m OK with a genderbent version.

I’m assuming they won’t be able to beat Galactus in their universe so they’ll flee to ours to join the rest of the MCU..?

Easy 6 04-17-2025 04:52 PM

This turd will tank, bet on it

Wake me up when the new Batman hits theaters, otherwise

Jamie 04-18-2025 03:51 AM

I heard Anya Taylor Joy was their original choice for Silver Surfer, and I wonder if the idea of doing a female Silver Surfer started with the idea of casting her specifically. Because she actually looks a lot like how Jack Kirby drew Silver Surfer, with the big wide-spaced eyes and prominent cheekbones.

This is what, the 4th or 5th FF film? The 2nd or 3rd reboot? Eventually they will get it right. Right???

It is curious how they just haven't been able to nail or make stick the FF yet considering how they've crushed other characters and storylines along the way. They're foundational characters of Marvel overall, but they just don't "get" them on the movie screen. Yet, anyway.

Wallcrawler 04-18-2025 03:08 PM

This looks like a giant piece of shit. Holy **** man.

Thing having a crystal clear voice is so off putting, and Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards?

Eddie Munson as Johnny Storm is meh at best, and if the stories about Sue Storm and gender identity are true then this thing is ****ed from the jump.

Hey.

She's the INVISIBLE WOMAN, not The invisible non binary dumbass.

GabyKeepsMeWarm 04-18-2025 04:11 PM

I dunno, I didn’t think the trailer looked that bad. I’ll probably check it out.

Gravedigger 04-18-2025 04:18 PM

Looks great, can't wait to see it. Silver Surfer's gender and name don't matter to me. I'm more skeptical about Johnny than I am anyone else, just doesn't come off as Human Torch to me, Chris Evans was so much more the part, still looking forward to it. The Thing looks legit, Sue Storm looks great, love the actress, and Pedro will just be Pedro, not sure I buy him as Reed but we'll see how they portray him.

crayzkirk 04-20-2025 08:35 AM

Unless it's a nude Sydney Sweeney, I'm out... This looks like more of the same.

Sure-Oz 04-20-2025 10:07 AM

I think this looks good and I don't care for the fantastic four. I'm more excited about Thunderbolts though.

Mahomie 04-21-2025 04:00 AM

Invisible Woman girlboss? Check. Pedro Pascal Ubercuck? Check. A soft-spoken wannabe-chef Thing? Check. A well-behaved Johnny Storm? Check. A gender-flipped Silver Surfer? Check.

This thing will suck so much ass that it's unquantifiable.

dlphg9 04-21-2025 10:52 PM

I'm not sure I get all the dipshits throwing a fit about Silver Surfer being a girl. ****ing idiots just keep forgetting the whole multiverse thing. God damn Deadpool was a ****ing dog in one universe.

And I thought the last Deadpool destroyed both characters. Marvel has no idea where it's going or what people want.

Bowser 04-27-2025 07:30 PM

It's more believable, tbh
