Looks like he would play the McKinnon role in our offense.
|
seems like a good 7th round selection to me
|
It sounds like he also returns kicks.
Overview Undersized running back who transferred from Miami and switched positions from wide receiver. Smith lacks ideal size and displays some hesitation in his early reads but is slippery over the first two levels, using quick cuts and spin moves to elude tacklers. He has a feel for finding soft spots along the interior but has average speed to turn the corner on wide runs. He could get pushed up a full round thanks to his ball skills and ability to run routes in space. Smith shined as a kick returner at Miami and will likely get that chance in the pros as a third-down back with room for development. Strengths

Absolute home run draft by this organization. This roster will be by far the deepest and most talented of this entire run. That’s crazy to imagine with Mahomes making $50+ million. Truly a special time to be a fan of this team.

With the 228th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs have selected Brashard Smith following a trade with the New England Patriots. The Chiefs moved up to spot 228 and give the Patriots the 251st and 257th pick.6 mins ago

With the new kickoff rules, I bet this is our returner and third and long back.
|
Ugh! I ****ING LOVE THIS PICK!!!
|
|
Hopefully these are things he's able to correct quickly so he can get on the field.
Weaknesses -Requires better understanding to read and set up block development. -Doesn’t offer up enough effort in pass protection. |
Reminds me a bit of Deanthiny Thomas. Nice pick in the 7th round.

This guy played WR, so he already has the skills for it. He lined up in the backfield, in the slot and outside. He has excellent hands.
He’s got elite start/stop ability. It really does remind me of Tyreek. Add the 4.39 long speed. This guy is what we hoped Clyde would be, but he’s got way more juice. He’s also going to replace Steele on kickoff returns. I have no clue how this guy lasted so long |
Is he a good pass blocker?
|
Watching his highlights....I like it....I like it a lot. His vision finding the hole and in the hole looks amazing and he has speed out of it. Love it.

posted this in the rb thread in the draft forum but for those unfamiliar, watch it. this guy has so much untapped potential. he ****ed around not knowing wtf he was doing playing rb for 1 year and still garnered a bunch of yards. if you watch his later games, especially the bowl games you see why we drafted him as he developed into a real runner. imo this is the best receiving back in the class and i will die on that hill. he will come in and offer immediate value as a kick returner, receiving back, and eventually as he develops - a runner. this is beyond a steal. this is the cherry onto of what will historically be viewed as the best draft class OAT. mark my words. |

Very nice!! Speed, receiver out of the backfield, and speed. Did I mention speed?!?!

Remember MEH’s supposed strength was passing blocking… and nothing else. Worth sacrificing a little pass blocking from a RB to add explosiveness. |

25% target rate for Brashard Smith is WILD. For reference, Jahmyr Gibbs had a 24% target rate his final year in college. I didn’t realize how productive he was last year- almost 2,000 all purpose yards last year

STFU |

Every time we said “has to be a RB, right? All the good ones are getting picked!”, he stayed the course. So many to choose from, he just let teams take the guys that were repetitive to what he already had. Then, moved up late and took a guy who slipped. Good stuff. |
This guy’s so perfect for Andy it’s crazy.
He’s our new gadget guy, pass catching back, return specialist, big playmaker, home run hitter….etc Veach just pulled another Pacheco. A 7th round RB that teams will have to worry about when they play KC. |
Quote:
Yet. He's a guy you use on some occasional outside zone as a tendency breaker but really I think you use him in motion out of the backfield a lot and between the 20s in 1st and 2nd down spots where you could still run so the defense isn't likely to just sell out to blitz. Maybe in a year or so he's a legit 3rd down back that can stand in there and take on a blitzer. I think that's asking a bit too much of him for now. |
He’s so good as a receiver. We didn’t have this on the roster last year and it hurt the offense badly. We haven’t had a receiving back like this since McKinnon in 2022.

I wanted this guy in the 4th...and figured we missed out.
He was still there in the 5th! I was kind of bummed when we passed on him. I didn't even dream he'd still be there in the 7th! Home run pick. FIRST BALLOT HALL OF FAMER, IMHO. |
Quote:
The odds of another 'run' on RBs was about zero. Holding tight made all the sense in the world. Then make a move when Martinez left and the next team looking to take a RB might take the last one you actually wanted. He played it perfectly. |

Great selection for the 7th round. Seems like this guy will get to do at least something year 1, whether it be returning kicks or spelling for Pop/Hunt.
|
So this guy is basically Jahmyr Gibbs is what I'm gathering.
|
oh **** yeah. Nice job Veach.
|
I am LEGIT getting shades of Joe Delaney here HOLY SHIT
Just go to 1:30 of Dantes 7th vid and watch that little sucker pick his way through that mess... and he runs a 4.28 :whackit::whackit::whackit::whackit::whackit::whackit: |
His size build and speed remind me of Jamaal Charles. I’m not comparing his game to Charles just his look.
|
Warrick Dunn 2.0 boys and girls!
|
And he's not even tiny at all, respectable size at 5'10 195
Thats the sizzle we've been looking for, Brett :bravo: |
Quote:
One of the reasons why the CEH pick failed was his blocking didn't allow him to be used a receiving weapon. |
Clark must love him. Paid him to come to SMU and now he does the same with KC.

Antonio Gibson.

Patrick gonna flip some voodoo magic behind his back left handed shit to this kid to the house.
