I showed the shirt photo to my wife who, against my wishes, regularly pays for clothing with holes. Her professional opinion is that Bill's shirt hole is an intentional design element. She said something about decorative fraying.

I think the goal is for people to think that you're rich but humble, but mostly that you're rich enough to pay to look humble.

Now I'm curious. How common is it for a woman in her twenties to marry a man in his seventies when he's not rich.

I have a data set that could potentially answer that questions in an indirect manner. Maybe some day I'll see if I can figure that out.

My hunch is that it depends on the definition of rich. It may happen with guys who aren't objectively rich if they're relatively rich compared to the woman. We may have some women living in abject poverty who fall in love with middle class guys.

As far as young women falling in love with old men who have less money than they do, is the answer on a nationwide basis more than zero? Is there one case in the US of this happening?

Let's exclude cases where the woman wants a green card in this discussion.
