Hmm, if I have this figured out, I've got two Canadians in this plane. We're obviously a joint USAAC/RCAF mission. (of course, we also have two Raiders fans with access to munitions, this could get real interesting :eek:

Of all the assignments I could have gotten, somehow Radio Operator seems appropriate, considering how many hours of radio watch I pulled in the field. Just make sure I have plenty of pencil erasers to ensure the pins on the communcations wires are clean and always pack at least three spare microphones, just in case.

I may be a Oakland fan on a Chiefs plane, but I don't run from a scrap! Bring it on! I'm in :thumb:

Hell, RNR, if you can fire the long bomb as well as Lamonica or Stabler did, then you're a definite asset to this crew.

Well, our bombing run went much, much better than the first time.

However, our shooting percentages are still not too good. 1 hit per run isn't going to get it cut once we start drawing more attention.

I recommend a little less time in the pub and a little more time on the practice range.

Both times we have taken flight I have been dog shit hung over! however I am 2 for 2 on the machine gun, and the only chance I have had to drop a payload I hit 30%. If you would like to talk it over, me and Big Daddy will be at the bar!

Skip towne can’t manually crank down the port landing gear, and jcroft and misplaced_chiefs_fan can’t diagnose the problem from inside the plane. Big_Daddy’s challenge is that he’ll need to make a belly landing, but with one flap out he’ll either have trouble maintaining control (keeping the plane from rolling) or he’ll have to come in much faster than normal. The crew discusses bailing out and letting Fire Below fly out over the Atlantic, but Big_Daddy and Skip Towne are confident that they can make the landing. Over-head kisses his gun goodbye, and comes up and straps himself in with the waist gunners.

The runway is cleared, and Fire Below comes in about 50 percent faster than the ground crews are accustomed to seeing, flaps up and landing gear tucked away. In a crush of metal, the plane hits the runway, skipping off like a stone. It lands again the second time, and the increased friction grinds the plane to a stop quickly, albeit throwing the crew members around in the plane. The crew piles out as the fire trucks inspect the damage, but have only bumps and bruises to show for the landing. Fire Below will fly another day.

Ah. You'll read what happened to the crew members (including you) in the text itself. For the most part, I only use the 'aftereffects' notation for determining if a wounded crew member is going to be ready for the next mission, or for noting if a crash-landing plane is repairable.
