"Bad tunes
Yes, everybody talks up the fans at Arrowhead Stadium -Ęthey're loyal, they're loud, yadda, yadda. But it's also the worst stadium in the league for the lethal repetition of high-decibel 80s "music" between every play. No wonder visiting teams hate to play here." Okay, Mr. or Ms. "I live in Seattle, the center of the U.S. progressive music scene," you better pay closer attention. While Bob Dole did not pay much attention to most of the music, the most repeated song during the 4th quarter defensive stands was Kid Rock's Bawitdaba, released August 18, 1998. Forgot the link... http://www.tribnet.com/cgi-bin/makef...orts/football/ [This message has been edited by Robert_Dole (edited 10-04-2000).] |
This is actually nothing new. Several Raiders players, especially Darrell Russell, were making fun of the music selection and the midwest in general as being "behind the times" after last year's game...
|
The music played in Arrowhead is pathetic...Quiet Riot? C'mon on now.
AZ |
"quiet riot's pretty cool", said the 40year old man.
sec feeling his age |
maybe its just the possibility that the majority of midwesterners think that "Rap is Crap"...just my oppinion....but I can't imagine what people would do if I played my music...
Denver's song...."your cheatin heart" Raiders(Andre rison) "mama tried" or "I fought the law and.." seahawks "the eagle, waylon jennings chargers...."theres a tear in my beer" i can go on, but I don't want to blasphem these songs by putting them next to vile names. http://www.ChiefsPlanet.com/ubb/smile.gif I dislike the high beer prices more than the music...If beer was free, let them play opra.....well, maybe not |
How about Flight of the Valkries during kickoff.
|
Well , at least they didn't describe you as redundant for playing the same songs repeatedly...
|
I'll take Quiet Riot or the primal scream from The Who any day over that "Day-oh" crap Banana Boat song they play over and over at the Colts game.
|
At least its not that Horn going off at the Metrodome for the Viks games.
Hoover |
Actually, during the 4th, Bob Dole was screaming every time they played something other than Bawitdaba. The defense would hold or move them back every time it was playing, then they'd switch songs and Seattle would progress.
Bob Dole thinks they should play Bawitdaba exclusively from now on. |
I would love to hear Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi Prolog, from Carmina Burana. A song that is perfect for the impending doom of an ensuing battle. I can't think of anything that would be better. I've been looking for a full audio clip, but in the meantime this lil sample will have to do, unfortunately it cuts off just before the explosion which would be perfect for the kick off:

hmm...think i might go home and dig thru the kids cds looking for kid rock...i think they still have it. i remember them leaving it in the car w/the volume turned up to the max. i pulled it out and tried to break it when i saw the "finger" on it. couldn't break it so i tossed it out the window on the garage floor.
sec i'm not a book burner |
What, and my suggestion gets no props??? I think Flight of the Valkries would be hilarious... we could do the Bugs Bunny version... "Kill the wabbit, Kill the wabbit"
|
Bob Dole thinks they should play the relevant part of The Rodeo Song by Gary Lee and Showdown when the opposing kicker runs on the field for a FG attempt.
"Here comes Johnny with his p*cker in his hand, he's a one-ball man and he's off to the rodeo..."<P> |
It's on "Devil Without a Cause," sec.
|
KC: For those Napster inclined, there are over 100 copies available for downloading. Just search for "Carmina" and "Fortuna" and leave out the rest.
Ahhh...the joys of Napster. |
"Riders of Doom" from the Conan the Barbarian soundtrack...
|
That is the music they played in "Excalibur" right?
|
Yes, and Yes
|
KC Jones- that is perfect for the kickoff- I think it would add a touch more nasty to that Arrowhead crowd! It would really pump everyone up for the game.<P>
|
I think they are all referring to the constant blaring of the intro to George Thoroughgood's "Bad to the Bone". It grinds on my nerves too! They do it between every single play... over and over and over. During the Oakland game last year, it played 15 times in a row: 'Bah dah dah bah dahh! Bah dah dah bah dahh!' it NEVER GOES ANY FURTHER! It's just the guitars - a looped riff.
|
Dole-- funny song. "Pi25 me off, F#@%n jerk get on my nerves..."
Have you ever heard the 1-95 A#%hole song? On a different note, Kid Rock has to be the most disqusting person I have ever heard making "music" Any one that would aprove of women being called whores and ******* needs to re-evaluate things. I like most music, and am pretty liberal (I think) but I will not allow Kid Rock into my house...the in band or not!!! |
Morphius added Fortuna to my colletion about 2 weeks ago, though he know gets funny looks in people in cubes around him who are used to Godsmack/Anthrax and the like coming from the cube.
|
Hey Senator, What about the War Chant that started right before the midfield return by DHall? That was AWESOME! I can't believe that MNF didn't mention it. Very foreboding.... http://www.ChiefsPlanet.com/ubb/mad.gif
[This message has been edited by stevieray (edited 10-04-2000).] |
Stevieray - I don't think they wanted to mention anything that un-PC. I think my section was completely out of sink with the rest of the stadium.
|
I think the chop might be pushing it, but that sounded incredible on the tube. What was it like live?
That's the first time in awhile, isn't it? |
Stevieray - It was great! The first time I have been to a game where they did that. We started after seeing the replay on the big screen and knew it was going to be overturned. You could hear it echo through the stadium, which made it even more weird sounding. It started again right before the punt. People were doing it again as we were alking down the exit ramps. I thought it was very cool.
|
It sounds like "you're in deep doo doo now"
Man. I hope we get to do that against the Faiduhs... http://www.ChiefsPlanet.com/ubb/cool.gif |
I LOVE the chop. Always enjoy the chant at Florida State games, and it was great when we used to do it. Gets me pumped up. Gotta keep it going...
|
Anyone who thinks Arrowhead has irritating music has never attended an Angels game at Edison Field. I have never been so bombarded by so much multimedia Disney crap trying desperately to inject artificial excitement into a baseball game. And the crowd NEVER sits down. If you're anywhere near an aisle, you have a solid wall of people walking in front of you. Thankfully these Anaheim mouth breathers only stay four innings or so. It's like a theme park with a ball game sort of going on in the background.
|
Stevieray - Part of the reason people started doing it in this one was because during the halftime show the Mizzou Marching band did the chop/chant as part of their show for the Chiefs fans trying to get them into it.
|
I love the chant!! It is very intimidating to hear 79,000 people chanting in unison. I wish it would go on more often, it is really ominous and as stevieray said lets the opponent know they are in for a long day.
|
come on you fu*king better get your right step right.........love that rodeo song.....
play the I-90 song when the rat comes to town.......where you born an as*hole or did you work at it your whole life? |
Bob Dole doesn't know the I-95 A$$hole Song. Thanks though...now Bob Dole is going to have to fire up Napster again. Sheesh.
As for the chant--it always sounds out of sync when you're in the stands (to Bob Dole anyway). The longer it goes on, the more people start trying to sync with the other side of the stadium, rather then just hanging with the beat in their head. Was pretty cool, though. |
Senator,
I beleive it is by Fred Campbell. It is funner than heck. You will like it. I downloaded it this summer so it is available. Pam |
It appears to be by Jimmy Buffet. (Downloading now...)
|
I don't think that is the same one???????
This one starts out with speaking... I was driving down the road one day... then it goes Were you born an a#%hole, or did ya work at it your whole life... Something like all your friends are a zzholes and you have an a-hole for a wife. It really is funny. [This message has been edited by dawsonpa (edited 10-05-2000).] |
That's the one Bob Dole downloaded, but only found versions listed as Buffet--no Campbell.<BR>
|
Well,
I didn't know Buffet did too it cool. He has some great songs. http://www.ChiefsPlanet.com/ubb/smile.gif Did you think the 1-95 song was funny http://www.ChiefsPlanet.com/ubb/biggrin.gif |
Still hoping to have 1st visit to Arrowhead this year I can't comment too much. BUT that Bawitdaba song makes me want to get in the pit and knock somebody out and I believe we had a damn good 4th quarter.
|
Well....
did you think it was funny???????? |
I thought it was funny.
