Looks awesome - hopefully they will tell us up front that it will last two seasons before they cancel it because it costs too much money (see "Rome" - HBO)

I saw the first couple of episodes a little while ago. The first episode is absolutely brutal. And not in a good way. It was like the writers took a porno and 300, snorted about 20 8-balls and mashed it all together. TOTAL cheeseball. The second ep. was much better in my opinion at least from a continuous show standpoint. Hopefully they keep it somewhat realistic.

Looks pretty awful. But entertaining. I'm a total sucker for cheesy low budget crap like this though. As long as it doesn't bill itself as something it's not.

I'm really starting to dig this show now. Much improved over the pilot. It looks like the writers decided to slow down and develop the characters and the story. The violence is delightfully brutal but not over done in a CGI cartoonish way.

It ain't ROME, and it ain't perfect, but it's officially part of the rotation at the moment.

Man, Rome was so so so good. Sometimes I hate HBO for loving their shows so much only to see them die prematurely (Deadwood, anybody?). I don't get Starz, though, so I'll probably have to watch at parent's house or DL it if you say it's [even somewhat] close to Rome.

I'm glad I continued to tune in after the pilot cause it didn't impress me at all. But now, if I can't watch it on Sat night, I catch it on Netflix. Pretty good show.

You're exactly right...I mean after all isn't that the entire point. To be entertained? It doesen't have to be the most well written, directed, and acted tv show to be entertaining.

Just caught up on the series and I'm enjoying it quite a bit. Frankly, I am glad they have cut down on the sex scenes and focused more on the story itself.

I can't believe the way this show has sucked me in. This has become a weekly favorite.

I've only watched the first 2 episodes so far, but I haven't noticed any fake titty yet. All I see is natural titty - even made a mental note how the casters did a good job with that, making sure to not get fake talent so as everything was historically correct, so to speak.

I see SOME 'roids, but I see a lot of natural muscle, too.

They could release that last episode as a stand alone porno.

one of the orgys, i think in the pilot, it was obvious that a slave girl or whatever had bolt-ons.

I don't mind the gratuitous violence, even when they feel like they've got to slow it down. It's annoying but bearable. But the acting in episode 1 is terrible. Especially that early fight scene. I hate it when bad actors feel like they need to talk in forced gruff voices. It ruins the suspension of disbelief for me, and I feel like I'm watching a bunch of dudes on a set.

Does the plot suck you in here? Is the story worth sticking with?

It gets way better. The first episode is pretty trash.

I'm finally caught up, I think (my VOD only went up to Episode 9). It doesn't even come close in quality of story and acting of the good HBO shows, but it's still pretty entertaining. It hasn't drawn me in nearly as much as HBO's Rome. If there wasn't as much titty and violence, I probably wouldn't have gotten to Episode 9, lol.

the episode where they fight those freaks underground was by far the best. the theocolies fight was pretty badass too.

It gets considerably better. I nearly gave up after the first ep, but I'm glad I didn't. The show has really evolved in the first 8 or 9 episodes. I'd suggest sticking with it.

yep, that is a good omen for the series. They will kill off major charectors. It did show the brutailty of the era.

I think he finds out that Batiatus actually killed his wife and that drives him to rebel. Crixus and his love get busted and therefore he teams up with spartacus to lead the rebelion.

I'm not sure history records why Spartucus and Crixus rebeled(other than the fact they are slaves) but having their women killed by the Romans in an underhanded way would be a good excuse to go postal.
