Denard Robinson

Dude is too much of a playmaker to not make a club. Question is where do you play him? I wonder if Toub could mold him into a punt returner?

Buehler445 01-20-2013 12:35 PM

He'll go earlier than he should. I'd hate it if he were picked up prior to 5-7.

ArrowheadMagic 01-20-2013 12:35 PM

He will get a chance at WR this week. Think he is definitely a play maker and interested in seeing his attitude and how hard he works to learn the position. Obvious wildcat QB, but can see him returning kicks also.

Mr_Tomahawk 01-20-2013 12:44 PM

No more midgets!

Sully 01-20-2013 12:44 PM

I liked him better when everyone called him Pat White.

He's not a midget.

CaliforniaChief 01-21-2013 07:23 PM

I'd take him in the 4th-6th in a heartbeat.

The Franchise 01-21-2013 07:53 PM

I think you draft him as a WR/PR/KR.

Sfeihc 01-21-2013 07:57 PM

If Pat White can go in the second round then if somebody really falls in love with Denard he could go that high. I think he'll probably be a third round pick.

O.city 01-21-2013 07:59 PM

He's working out at the SR bowl as a returner and wr.

htismaqe 01-21-2013 10:03 PM

He's an interesting prospect. He can literally line up anywhere on offense.

DaKCMan AP 01-21-2013 10:11 PM

He has the potential of Randall Cobb, just less polished @ WR coming out of school.

'Hamas' Jenkins 01-21-2013 10:14 PM

I'd use him as a Bryan Westbrook type rather than Randall Cobb. Hope for 100ish carries and 50ish catches a year plus KR/PR duty. There's a lot of value in that.

What? He's not Pat White. Denard is an absolutely insane athlete who plays a shitty QB position. Pat White was a relatively athletic QB who was an okay passer.

I could see Denard being a terrific PR/KR. I just don't see him being anything else but that, unless you want another Devin Hester type experiment at WR where you force-fit a phenomenal athlete into a WR role he does not look natural in.

Robinson absolutely has the potential to be a poor man's Percy Harvin. Like Hamas said, he would play primarily out of the backfield, not a true WR.

Titty Meat 01-22-2013 12:37 AM

I'd love to see an offense with Charles and Robinson on the field at once. There's not a defense in the league that would be able to defend that speed.

Little Red talks with Denard Robinson:

Mecca 01-22-2013 10:50 PM

Robinson is under no illusion that he's a QB unlike Pat White.

I'm not sure what he is, he's a WR or a RB, he may be better suited at RB honestly if you look at his height and weight listing he's right there with guys like Charles and Johnson the speed backs.

CaliforniaChief 01-22-2013 11:29 PM

How about using him in a read-option package too?

Mecca 01-22-2013 11:31 PM

He also has huge hands, his hands are bigger than any of the WR's down there.

CaliforniaChief 01-22-2013 11:34 PM

Could you imagine the stress that a Robinson/Charles read option would create? Especially since he could pull it back and throw it if the defense stacks the box?

Imagine Robinson, Charles, AND Geno all on the field at the same time.

Yep.

He's a VERY intriguing prospect.

CoMoChief 01-23-2013 09:22 AM

He's sure as hell faster/better than McCluster

fap fap fap

Frosty 01-23-2013 09:54 AM

Most of the reports that I've seen says Robinson is struggling mightily at both catching the ball and fielding punts. Definitely a big project.

Oh, ****. I could see the Hawks snatching him up in the 2nd round when you talk like that.

Rambozo 01-23-2013 12:22 PM

I like Robinson but then again, I am kind of tired of tweener projects. I think I would pass and take a solid player at another position.

RyFo18 01-25-2013 09:01 AM

It sounds like he's had a rough going at Senior Bowl practices this week. He's trying to make the switch to WR and never has any idea where to line up, to the point where people have had to place him in his spot. He's got a lot of work to do on his route tree too. Some have said he may be a last day pick. I would say that he is well worth it on day 3 of the draft.

Titty Meat 01-25-2013 09:06 AM

Hopefully that will knock him down a round still has everything you cant teach.

Yep. If you can get him in the 6th, do it.

htismaqe 01-25-2013 10:55 AM

Lance Zierlein was just on 810 and Petro asked him what player hurt himself the most in Mobile.

His answer? Denard Robinson. Aparently, scouts were making jokes about his receiving "skills" - something about slapping together a ham sammich...

Frosty 01-25-2013 11:20 AM

I had hopes that Robinson could be another Joshua Cribbs (college QB that becomes a standout returner and reasonable receiver) but he is apparently awful at fielding kicks and really struggles catching the ball. Major, major project.
