Man, this looks good. AMC is doing work. It may not be Mad Men good, but I imagine it will be worth the watch.

It looks like Twin Peaks minus the crazy.

Is that an offer? We can meet in the men's room opening game 2012(since there won't be a 2011 opening game). Sound good to you?

The Killing is a Stanley Kubrick film

Here's what I was looking for [God there are a lot of threads with Killing in them]. Mods, feel free to merge my FP thread if you wish.

Again, as per my FP thread, anyone seen the Danish original? Be interesting to get insights on how this one measures up.

Looking through the preview on AICN, the reviews for it (the US version) are outstanding.

Haven't seen the original.

Some raving and obsession over here. Seems like they treat this show like their mashup of The Wire and Lost [early to mid-seasons Lost, without the Lost letdown at the end].

Its a shame really.....these are the types of shows the big Networks used to take chances on before they got reality obsessed..

The previews make this appear a little like Twin Peaks......cant believe that show was 20 years ago......if made today, it would be on HBO, FX or AMC.

That is a good thing. "Network" shows pretty much blow now a days IMO.

I couldn't even make it through the first 10 minutes of the first episode of Twin Peaks. Is it something I should give a chance?

To be fair, it's hard to judge. The pilot was a force of nature when it aired. People went crazy. Can't think of another pilot that created nearly as much water cooler talk, not even Lost.

The rest of the episodes were more conventional, until you got to Agent Cooper's famous dream sequence. The second season descended into ridiculous melodrama.

I'd suggest giving the pilot another try with your expectations set for quirky. If it finally lands with you, try the rest of the first season.

Or maybe acclimatize yourself to Lynch with some Blue Velvet, Wild at Heart, and Mullholland Drive, first.
