I lived in Aurora for a year of my life. I have been to that Wal-mart.

I saw Morrison back in the day in Westport holding court many a night. He was banging 3 at a time. Getting drunk as hell, openly snorting coke at the table. He was not cool to anyone unless you were a women and hot.

There's an entire cottage industry in AIDS denialism based upon junk science known as the Duesberg Hypothesis. It has been wholly discredited, but idiots still latch onto it. When Thabo Mbeki was president of South Africa he embraced denialist claims because it absolved his government of any responsibility for education, prevention, or treatment.

We were probably side by side without knowing each other. The guy was at the Lone Star, The Hurricane, Kelly's and every other bar down there smoking, drinking and snorting his ass off.

Without revealing too much, my brother and he were friends before he "blew up". He knew my parents and they all tried to give him advice. John Brown, who was my boxing trainer when I was younger, was tough as nails and tried to advise him as well. The guy wouldn't listen to anyone.

I'd heard stories from girls in Oklahoma, before he moved to KC, about the guy and how he behaved when he was drunk. Unfortunately, I think he's been on this path of personal destruction since he was born and no one could stop him.

Least of all, himself.

Not really.

No one, outside of Kansas Citians at the time and maybe old boxing junkies, would even give a shit.

I think Leaving Las Vegas may have already covered it.

It seemed like a good story, but I got tired with it, like the writer's mother in bed.
