Atlanta looking to move up

This might be a trade option for you who want to pick up a 2 to trade down. Atlanta might give that much up for the #1 overall pick.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...the-nfl-draft/

Quote:

Two years ago, the Falcons made no secret in the days before the draft that they were looking to trade up to get a wide receiver, and they would eventually send two first-round picks, a second-round pick and two fourth-round picks to Cleveland so that they could draft Julio Jones sixth overall. That worked well enough that the Falcons are now trying to move up again.

Peter King of Sports Illustrated reports that the Falcons are trying to trade up from their current first-round pick, which is No. 30 overall. King said he doesn’t know which player or players the Falcons are targeting, but they apparently like someone whom they expect to be off the board before No. 30 overall.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution recently suggested that the Falcons might try to trade up for a cornerback like Alabama’s Dee Milliner, Florida State’s Xavier Rhodes or Washington’s Desmond Trufant. They could also covet one of the draft’s top pass rushers after releasing veteran defensive end John Abraham. There’s also talk that they might like to acquire Notre Dame tight end Tyler Eifert and give him a year to learn from Tony Gonzalez (who is expected to retire after the 2013 season) before taking over for Gonzalez in 2014 as the team’s No. 1 tight end.

saphojunkie 04-17-2013 10:34 AM

Why are so many other teams run so much better than KC?

Dayze 04-17-2013 10:36 AM

because they're not cursed and/or reeruned.

The Franchise 04-17-2013 10:38 AM

No way that Atlanta moves from #30 to #1. They don't have the ammo to do it and they wouldn't need to get up that far.

Bitch please. We are begging to give the pick away! Ask for their #2 and hope they will take such a large discount from us. Might need to be willing to take just a 3.

Dayze 04-17-2013 10:42 AM

trade for TG and a pick! / True Fans.

Deberg_1990 04-17-2013 10:43 AM

meh....if they are picking 30th, wouldnt their #2 almost be a 3rd rounder?

Id want a high 2nd rounder hopefully....

-King- 04-17-2013 10:43 AM

Lol **** no. They'd literally have to give us all their picks and some next year.

Some next year? They might as well give us their draft this year and their entire draft in 2014 as well.

Dayze 04-17-2013 10:44 AM

trade them Baldwin for Julio straight up.

WV 04-17-2013 10:46 AM

It's such a shame no one wants the #1 overall. After the ass pounding the 49'ers gave us after we begged for it in the Average Smith deal, teams should be lining up for another go at us lube free.

The 30 is basically a high 2nd rounder!

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to high for KC. Anyone else it's a freaking steal!!! :(

ghak99 04-17-2013 10:52 AM

A 1st round swap and their second, basically a 3rd, would be epically reeruned.

Even entertaining the idea is ****ing reeruned.

BlackHelicopters 04-17-2013 10:53 AM

This will never happen.

Not this year. There's no value in the top of the draft. All the value is in the late 1st and 2nd. In fact, it might be that the 30th pick > 1st pick.

If we could talk them into trading us that #2 we'd be set. Settling for their 3rd rounder wouldn't be terrible, but we need to try to do better.

Maybe if they'll only give us the 3 we could snag a 7th rounder from them next year. Conditionally of course.

You're ****ing kidding me....right? Giving up the first overall pick for what is basically a high 2nd and a high 3rd round pick is borderline reeruned. Dorsey should get fired for agreeing to that trade.

The Chiefs are negotiating from a position of weakness, not strength. We should be happy with whatever we can get. If I'm Dorsey I'm on the phone with Atlanta RIGHT ****ING NOW.

CP wants a trade down, this is a legit option where we might just be able to recoup a 2nd round pick. Maybe, this draft the #1 overall pick has absolutely no value. At all.

And once again....the Falcons don't HAVE to move up all the way to the #1 pick to get someone they want. Milliner isn't going in the top 4. Rhodes isn't going in the top 10. Shit....Trufant won't even be going in the top 20 picks.

They are after either a DE or a CB. Maybe they want to leapfrog Jacksonville to get Jordan? Making that move might be worth a 2nd round pick for them....

#1 for #30 and #60. :shake:

#1 for #30 and #92 and a possible 7th rounder next year as mentioned in your previous post.

B14ckmon 04-17-2013 11:15 AM

Your 2nd round pick was only 4 picks after their first round pick. Think about it.

I've studied this draft on CP and have come to this, logical, conclusion. Did you not read through the threads I linked?

We should be willing to take vastly undervalued compensation to trade down, and should be happy about it.

I know a 2nd rounder to move down from 1 to 30 seems like not enough, but this year we should take what we can get and be happy about it.

Do you think maybe we could package our #1 pick and something else to trade up to the #30 pick?

Talk to Direckshun. Maybe we could package Albert and grab a 3 or something? :)

Atlanta just cut a good RT to save money, they arent trading for a LT tackle that wants to be vastly overpaid.

the fact of the matter is Atlanta cant afford or pay a LT 9+ million a year. Its just not realistic. Have you watched them cut every overpaid player on their team this year just to eat the dead money?

They have prospects on their radar they feel that can help them win now, and their GM will go and get that guy so they can plug and play him. same thing they did with Julio Jones and it will be a cheaper rookie than trying to trade for any veteran players looking to get paid.

that's funny because we just signed and paid a lot of money for "one of those guys they cut who suck or are old and breaking down" as you put it.

so what does that say about the Chiefs.

I live in Atlanta. Not one person was sad to see Dunta go. They all laughed at KC for signing him. FWIW

And the Chiefs were the worst team in the NFL last year, I'd say that says a lot more about them than picking up a busted ass FA does.

Peter King reports- falcons want to trade up- he doesnt know for Which player but one that will be off the board by the 30th pick-LOL

and he backs the story up by more hersay from a reporter that (suggested) they might want too???

where do you sign up to be a writer for SI??

Hog's Gone Fishin 04-17-2013 04:25 PM

The scenerio that plays out is we first trade down with Miami , getting extra picks, then we trade Miami's 1st down to NYJ and get extra picks, then we trade NYJ 1st down to Atlanta for next years #1

Bingo.

Move from 30-1? Yea, right.

Bill Poilan was talking already tonight that if you move past #6 overall you gotta give up: Swapping #1's this year, a 2nd this year and a 1st in 2014.
The Falcons would be giving up another Julio Jones type deal +.

We don't even know what the Falcons want. If it's a TE to be an understudy to Gonzo, they aren't looking to take them at #1.

Between this and that horrible half assed attempt at a mock the other day he is really slipping. I think he is going the other way from where Tim Cowlishaw did from "Drunk on Sports".
