Eli vs Peyton

Who is more clutch?

milkman 01-12-2013 08:30 PM

Is this even a question?

Mr_Tomahawk 01-12-2013 08:30 PM

Eli.

/Thread.

Canofbier 01-12-2013 08:31 PM

Despite Peyton's strong showing tonight, I'd say that Eli still has him beaten out when it comes to his affinity for pouty expressions.

Rasputin 01-12-2013 08:31 PM

Eli is clutch Peyton is not. Eli didn't have a good year but twice he beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl with clutch performance.

Cmd'r&Chief 01-12-2013 08:32 PM

I vote Archie Manning

Gadzooks 01-12-2013 08:32 PM

Peyton had a horseshoe on his helmet and Eli had one firmly planted up his ass.

You have the same team makeup everywhere but the QB position. You are about to start the playoffs. You have a choice between Eli or Peyton. Who do you choose?

Can we say that Peyton definitely has more talent? But would you choose him over Eli, with all else being equal on the team?

Are you new here?

I am the first to call Peyton a playoff choker, going back years.

Took a ton of shit for that.

I am taking Eli, and not even thinking about looking back.

tredadda 01-12-2013 08:41 PM

Hope the OP is not asking a serious question.

JD10367 01-12-2013 08:41 PM

Peyton is a luckier Dan Marino. Loaded with talent but just can't get over the hump and gets in his own way at the worst time. The only year he won the SB it was due more to his running game and defense, and he was the least-important factor. On the other hand, Eli underwhelms with his presence but just keeps winning.

Newish.

But my buddy and I were arguing over text about this. I called Manning a definite choker after tonight's performance. He says it isn't fair to call Eli more clutch because those Giants defenses won them games/Superbowls while Peyton played in Indy with shitty defenses.

He claims if they both were Quarterbacking the same team, you would take Peyton because his talent is superior.

well if the dipshit HAD watched the games he would know that Eli made some great throws in crunch time to lead his team to the wins. In every big win.

Jesus Christ, you and I are like the same person. I said almost that exact thing but called him reeruned instead of dipshit.

Bump 01-12-2013 08:51 PM

Eli has 2 miracle comeback Superbowl wins, it doesn't get any more clutch than that. Eli.

In the years since PM joined the league, thhe NFL has placed more emphasis on
defensive contact with receivers, created the 1 1/2 step rule on hitting the QB, created the no grounding outside the pocket rule, and created the rule that makes it illegal to hit QBs below the knee.

There might be more, and my memory is sketchy.

But the rules have been tweaked and changed to give the QB a greater advantage.

All rules pushed forward by Bill Poilian.

And in spite of all of this, when you can consistently pressure PM, he still chokes.

Eli just keeps making big plays in big moments.

Yea I totally agree.

I don't really remember how bad Indy defenses were all those years besides the shit defensive matchup in '03?

Super Bowls won is the only thing that matters.

threebag 01-12-2013 08:59 PM

Your mom is pretty clutch.

ChiefRocka 01-12-2013 09:00 PM

Peyton is pulling a Geena Davis in "a league of their own"

Actually you voted for your mom, pervert.

FloridaMan88 01-12-2013 10:19 PM

This isn't even a debate anymore.

Take Peyton if you want to win a fantasy football league

Take Eli if you want a clutch QB in the playoffs.

BigMeatballDave 01-12-2013 10:45 PM

If you voted for Peyton you're either stupid or just trolling.

It's not like we're saying Indy was blown out every year in the playoffs. They were in a lot of tightly contested games where Peyton just did not make enough plays at the end where it mattered most. In many cases, he threw picks at the wrong time.

I know people talk about the David Tyree unbelievable catch against New England. I am still in awe at the pass Eli threw to Mario Manningham. It's passes like these that I just don't see enough of from Peyton in late game playoff situations.

okcchief 01-12-2013 10:58 PM

Does anyone think Manning was hurt? He didn't seem to have much on the ball, and they didn't go deep at all. Running out the clock with 30 seconds left, and no sense of urgency in OT.

Eli is more clutch, but today's game was lost by the Donkeys secondary. They were pretty awful. Manning played a factor of course, but when your defense has a 7 point lead with a minute left, the other team 70 yards away with no timeouts you have to hold on.

Rudy tossed tigger's salad 01-12-2013 11:00 PM

I'd still take the choker in a playoff game. Sorry. He's never had a defense like those Giants. I'd take Matt Ryan and Tony Romo over Mark Sanchez too

Deberg_1990 01-12-2013 11:01 PM

Peyton = Best Regular Season QB of all time

Eli = One of the best playoff QBs of all times

They are almost polar opposites. Peyton is mediocre playoff QB. Eli is a mediocre regular season QB. Weird......

Definitely. Peyton controls a lot of the playcalling, so it's telling that he checked into a bunch of screens and run in OT. Think he knew his arm was shot, and we saw it on several passes.

That being said... his last pass was picked because of what looked like a terrible decision.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

For sure, Eli: :D

hope they don't hunt me down

TheGuardian 01-13-2013 08:53 AM

Who are the 2 idiots that voted for Peyton?

Eli has proven he's the better of the 2 QB's. You get Eli into the playoffs and he turns that shit up another level. Peyton turns it down.
