Here's something you don't see everyday: a fan actually hit the halfcourt shot during a basketball game. And it was a hook shot. Check it out.

You know how NBA teams offer halfcourt shots for a bunch of money and never expect the fans to actually hit the shots? Well, this guy at the Miami Heat vs. Detroit Pistons game hit the shot. And he did it by shooting a hook shot.

What does he get for his troubles? $75,000 and a big hug from LeBron James. Not a bad way to spend a Friday night.

The Bad Guy 01-25-2013 09:40 PM

That's pretty awesome.

HolyHat 01-25-2013 09:41 PM

Getting clobbered by Lebron > $75,000

kcxiv 01-25-2013 09:42 PM

Thats cool as **** right there.

hometeam 01-25-2013 09:42 PM

****in love it.

Chief Pote 01-25-2013 09:43 PM

Lebron jumped him like that was his buddy. :thumb:

Lzen 01-25-2013 09:52 PM

Very cool. LeBron is a good guy.

Nickel D 01-25-2013 09:53 PM

The sponsor(s) of the contest will say that, just prior to the shot, he walked with the ball...so based on that technicality, he's not getting the money.

Mr. Flopnuts 01-25-2013 09:59 PM

LeBron looked seriously hyped for him. I now love LeBron James.

Deberg_1990 01-25-2013 10:01 PM

Looked like his foot touched the line. Should have been waived off.

jspchief 01-25-2013 10:05 PM

The sponsor just purchases an insurance policy in the contests. The insurance company would be who would fight it.

PunkinDrublic 01-25-2013 10:07 PM

That will buy him a lot of highlights and Ed Hardy shirts.

okcchief 01-25-2013 10:18 PM

Two years ago someone hit the half court shot on consecutive Sunday Night games in OKC. Hasn't happened since. Crazy it happened two weeks in a row. They only give away a messily 20k though :)

okcchief 01-25-2013 10:20 PM

LeBron is a good guy though. He's had his maturity issues, but who wouldn't with his talent?

Hootie 01-25-2013 10:22 PM

LeBron has always been incredibly easy for me to cheer for...as opposed to Kobe, who I think is a little bitch. I'll never get over the way he acted during that Phoenix series way back when when he tanked game 7 to show everyone how great and important he was.

I love the half-assed sky hook form.

Pretty cool video.

AntiPioli 01-25-2013 10:43 PM

Ya like Lebron has never tanked *cough twice against Celtics* o ya lets not forget ESPN The Decision LoL What a big Turd

Hootie 01-25-2013 10:44 PM

oh LeBron has been a career clutch choker

but he's never done it on purpose, and he's never been a BITCH

Oh you mean like when LeBron tanked his last series in Cleveland?

But pretty cool video. Especially the hug part.

nah

he did nothing even remotely close to what Kobe did against Phoenix

Kobe made Phil quit once. Phil wrote a book about what kind of person/player Kobe was.

Kobe is a top 15 player of all-time. He was never a closer and he's never been clutch. He's never been noticeably un-clutch but he's never been the closer people talk about him being.

He's also a prick, a terrible teammate and a whiny little bitch.

ROFL Cool story bro. How about LeBron not even telling Cleveland players his intentions before The Decision. Good teammate there.

And LeBron isn't clutch either

I agree, Lebron isn't clutch...he does have more clutch playoff moments than Kobe, though. Pretty sad, really.

You're such a crazy, risk-taker, nut.

Wonder how much the lawsuit will be worth for the back injury that "LeBron caused"?

I am so happy to read this. Been a Lebron fan for a long time, purely because my read on the guy is a fun loving kid who just wants to play the game right. Actually HATED Lebron when he came out and loved Kobe when he came out. My attitude has flipped on both.

Nice. Your point is well taken, though on a purely technical note, I would argue Lebron is more talented than Durant. He isn't the scorer Durant is - certainly not the shooter -but he has gifts that Durant quite simply cannot match. For my money, I would start a franchise today with Lebron 1 and Durant a very close 2.

Phobia 01-26-2013 02:52 AM

I would rather shoot skyhooks for a living than be an idiot fat pawn broker.

James has matured.

Draft him #1?

Fritz88 01-26-2013 04:47 PM

Hitting half court shot = 75000
Fixing your back after LeBron jumps at you = 130,000.
