What game are you playing now?

I'm currently into Far Cry 3 on ps3. Love this game.

Rain Man 12-28-2012 06:17 PM

I just played a little Onslaught in the arcade section of Chiefsplanet.

NewChief 12-28-2012 06:21 PM

Skylander Giants and more Skylander Giants. All the little buggers want to play.

Robo-Chachi 12-28-2012 06:33 PM

Just started Far Cry 3 last night. It looks awesome. Unfortunately, I can't get immersed in it because I'm either in the menus or watching a cut scene 2/3rd's of the time so far.

DaveNull 12-28-2012 06:35 PM

Vice City on the iPad. It's as awesome as it was on the PS2 if not better.

Still playing guildwars 2 some, picked up saints row the third and all of the DLC for 7 bucks on steam sale the other day and have about 15 hours in it, also firing up far cry 3 from time to time, as well as bf3 when my LAN buddies come over.

You don't really need to. The story in the first one was kind of lame.

Honestly.....if you like FPSs or RPGs.....give it a rent. I've loved the games since I played the first one.

Its a good game in a ton of ways. Fortunately for you, the only bad thing about is that is is still basically Borderlands 1, with new guns/missions. Not a lot of innovation in game play. Because you haven't played BL1 you will have lots of fun with 2. The only reason I haven't put more hours into BL2 is because I have something like nearly 300 hours in BL1, and could only push about 50 on BL2 but only because it was more of the same, not anything else.

Back to playing Skyrim. Trying some different stuff - for the first time I'm actually investing some time and skill points in Alchemy. I'm at level 52, haven't completed any of the guild quests or the main quest. I haven't even visited Winterhold yet. And after hundreds of hours, I'm still finding new locations I'd never encountered before.

Super Street Fighter IV. Only game that holds my interest. So wish 2K could put out a NFL Football game. Madden is a piece of shit. Yes I'm bitter after 8 years lol I love football gaming if the game is good.

Mass Effect 3. Which I used to ignorantly criticize. But after giving it a second try on a new system, Holy shit this game is amazing.

I'm going to beat Far Cry 3 pretty soon (I think) and I also just finally ordered Mass Effect 3. I was deep in the throes of SW:TOR when ME3 came out and then never got around to it. ME and ME2 are both in my top 5 single player experiences along with KOTOR, Half-Life and Rome: Total War. Hopefully ME3 lives up to its predecessors. Either way, it's going to be the next game I play.

I've been wanting to try Hotline Miami. Is it as fun as it looks?

Is it necessary to play ME 1 or 2 before playing 3? I've got a giftcard to Gamestop but I have no clue what game to get.

I would say that Mass Effect is really one of those series where you have to start from the very beginning (but 1 and 2 should be super cheap and I'm sure there's a pack you can buy). The gameplay in ME1 might seem a little outdated by now but the story-telling, the extremely detailed and well-explained back-drop will swallow you up into an amazing adventure.

The choices you make in ME1 carry over to ME2 and then ME3, but if you start at ME3, I think the game can just give you a default story.

Looks like the Mass Effect trilogy is available for $60. I might go rent the 1st one to see if I like the gameplay before I buy the series.

QuikSsurfer 12-29-2012 01:09 AM

The game play tightens up quite a bit in the second game. This series is about SciFi jerkoff fantasies. It is fantastic.

I don't know if you're into reading at all, but if you do play ME1 (which is way more about setting up the universe and telling a story than it is about providing crisp gameplay), I would highly recommend reading the codex entries that pop-up throughout the game. It's incredible how well BioWare thought everything out.

It's great if you don't mind the Super Meat Boy/Trials HD type of "**** I died, hit restart 141 times in a single level" gameplay. You don't have to play it at a frenetic pace, but you will die quickly and often.

My husband played ME2 and ME3, but I never did for some reason.

My other obsession is still Borderlands2. We play it for a few weeks, play another game, play it for a few, play another. I'm fairly certain it's my favorite of the year.

Steam has FTL on sale as part of their holiday sale. I just played it for about an hour, and it was a lot of fun. Great strategy and resource management. It's $5 on Steam until noon today, then it goes back up to $10. But so far it seems like $10 is a great price, too.

I didn't. But I'm really wishing I did, and I'm considering putting ME3 on pause, and play 1 and 2 first.

From what I see, if you do play 1 and 2, your choices and decisions determine how 3 will play out. Along with certain NPCs that will either be present or not depending on whether you chose to save/kill them in the previous versions. The story is very deep and the game is very dynamic depending on whether you play as an asshole or a hero.

I don't know how you do it, man. My character was as powerful as he was going to get 70 hours into the game and the story just wasn't enough to keep me going. I tried going back to it just to explore and finish up the different story lines and just couldn't do it. I need either the character progression or a good story to keep me going in any game. I know I've said it before, but Skyrim is a Blizzard's inventory system away from being the perfect game.

Well, I've played every Total War game since Rome and even though they were better than Rome, the experience with them wasn't as strong as that original one. I remember how my mind was blown by what was possible with Rome and how that game swallowed up my free time when I first discovered it. It was incredible. I'm a HUGE HUGE HUGE Creative Assembly fan now.

I honestly don't understand how you could be maxed out in 70 hours. By maxing enchanting and smithing?

I've meticulously cleared almost all of the dungeons and forts around Whiterun and Falkreath. I haven't been to any other holds yet and I haven't gone to the Greybeards yet. I am 24th level.

Now, that being said, I only have about 75 hours in this build. I have restarted several times. I am playing on Master difficulty with a Hold Guard build - using hold guard armor, 1-hand with shield. Not pumping smithing except for the occasional gear upgrade. Not using enchanting AT ALL and I am also not using any enchanted gear or spells.

So that means I spend more time than average sleeping, resting, and otherwise being cautious. Random saber cats or trolls can be instant death if I am not overly cautious.

He's maxed out in terms of best-in-slot gear, and the necessary perks for the build (heavy armor, dual-wielder, enchanter/blacksmith). I guess I could go back and train up his magic and sneaking skills and maybe medium armor and bow skills, but I just don't see the point. The dude can pretty much 1 shot anything in the game. I guess I could increase the difficulty, but it wouldn't make anything any more interesting because I can't progress any further anyway, it would just make exploring more challenging.

If you'd played ME3 at release, you might've been disappointed. I wasn't (loved it) but a lot of people were. Playing it now will most likely be fine, with the dlc cleaning most of the questionable stuff up.

The gameplay changes pretty radically (in a good way) from ME1 to ME2, but it's worth playing the 1st one because it's the best in the series in a storytelling sense. 2 and 3 feature much more enjoyable gameplay.

Right now I'm still playing SW:TOR, working on my bounty hunter (should be my 6th level 50 in a week or so). I've recently reloaded LOTRO (after watching The Hobbit) but haven't started playing, and don't expect to play much. But I have enough store points accrued to purchase both expansions and have a ton left over, so I figure why not.

Also replaying ME3 right now. Have Arkham City waiting for when I feel like a change of pace.

Yeah going heavy on enchanting/smithing can really unbalance the game. I won't ever have the best leveled gear because I only use stuff that fits my build from RP perspective. I use light armor vs. heavy for starters and since i am a Stormcloak sympathizer, my character refuses to use anything Elven or Glass. I started with Stormcloak armor up to becoming Thane of Whiterun. I then wore the Whiterun set, imagining myself as a personal emissary of Jarl Balgruuf as I scoured the countryside killing bandits and necromancers.

I'm now doing side quests around Helgen and Falkreath, wearing full Falkreath guard armor. And as I mentioned before, my character doesn't like magic or magic users, so not only I am not enchanting stuff, I am not using anything that I find that is enchanted either. I use an amulet of Stendarr but that's because he considers it divine blessing rather than "magic".

I don't think the ending DLC actually changes anything, it just adds some postscripts. It's also free, so I'd say play it (even though I actually haven't - I have all the DLC but haven't played through any of it but From Ashes yet).

Looks like I'll be holding off on buying any Mass Effect games. I got Batman: Arkham City for Christmas.....so I'll be playing that game until I beat it.

Swanman 01-02-2013 12:13 PM

I have been addicted to Far Cry 3 on the 360. I have been just running around the island picking up loot chests and relics and have only done like 4 or 5 main story quests. I almost have enough cash to pick up the badass sniper rifle in the game so that should be fun.

After that, back to Borderlands 2 on the 360. I am probably about 30% through it thus far but I am ocd about doing every single side quest for the most part so I am making it slowly through.

Aside from that, probably Torchlight II. The game is perfect to just pick up and play for a bit if I have a few minutes to spare. It's just a plain old fun dungeon crawler lootfest.

I'm saying I have never liked batman, a friend bought the latest version for me saying how great it is. I did not like it mainly because I've never been a fan of Batman. I've tried to play it several times and it doesn't appeal to me whatsoever.

But the new batman is cool with all of the darkness and anger and hate and whatnot. Also, Anne Hathaway looks amazing in skin tight vinyl.

The Hulk could kick his ass with all that rage any day, he's not even a good superhero.
