A fun Earl Campbell highlight.

I'm watching some biography of him and they showed this clip. It won't imbed, but it's worth your time to watch it. It made me laugh.

If you never got to see Earl Campbell play, you missed some fun time.

Wow.

That defender looks like a cow that gets caught on the cow catcher of one of the old steam locomotives...LMAO

Ah, yes.

They're showing some other clips on this biography that I've never seen before, and they're amazing. Earl was one of a kind.

Earl Campbell was one of the great RB's. It is a shame that injuries cut his career short.

Fairplay 12-12-2012 01:00 AM

I was watching the last Heisman trophy award ceremony, just a couple days ago and all the award winners stood on stage of previous years went on stage to stand in order. Earl sat in the audience, I'm thinking that he was unable to stand up there for physical reasons which was sad.

If your price for fame included bad knees and such the rest of your living days would you do that?

They got the idea for the tear away jerseys from that play dude.

The Oiler's ran the heck out of him. Earl should have said 20 carries a game and that's it.

Use the pass or another RB.

On the biography I watched, they basically said that his health problems were unrelated to football. Apparently he had spinal stenosis, and it never affected him during his career but hit him hard afterwards. I don't know if that makes it better or worse.

My post in #8 sounds like something you would have a thread about.

If you could get a few million for an NFL career and have health problems the rest of your life would you do it?

I say, no way.

I don't think NFL players think it' a definite that they will have health problems the rest of their lives. In other words, it's a question about the RISK being worth it.

So, if you could get a few million dollars but there is a chance you would have health problems the rest of your life, would you do it?

If I was any good at the sport and loved to play it...the answer is hell yes.

I noticed that too, and yes you would be correct. There was a Real Sports episode talking about the price of playing and they showed a clip of Earl trying to stand, it wasn’t pretty.

Did not know that.
I was assuming knees also.
