Looking for a new computer for my boss

Do packages not come with monitors anymore? I'm not looking for something super geeky. Just a basic tower desktop, mouse, keyboard, speakers, and monitor.

Would like for it to have:

Windows 7 Professional
Good processor
around 6 GB RAM
Looking for a 17" monitor

Want to keep the price between $600-700 for everything, if possible.

Suggestions?

Do. Not. Buy. ASUS.

most of the time monitors are sold separately anymore, unless you configure you own and add the monitor.

good laptop might be easier

Why is that? Our IT consultant recommended Asus.

Had a buddy's harddrive just stop working explicably after 2 months, and I have gone through 2 Nexus 7 tablets through 4 month. They just quit working. Cheap cheap cheap crap.

ASUS doesn't make hard drives. Hard drives, unfortunately, can crash at any time regardless of age.

ASUS makes some of the finest motherboards in the world. You are misinformed.

Fine, 3 products that said ASUS on them have stopped working in a relatively short time.

EDIT: No, not informed. I was deployed with this guy, his computer was our sole form on entertainment. It simply stopped turning on. We sent it in, the whole computer had to be replaced, not an issue with the software, the rep said it was an issue with hardware.

This is bullshit. Asus is a great company.

Nice all in one iMac clone:

DELL Inspiron One io2020-5000BK 20" Desktop PC Intel Core i3 2120T(2.60GHz) 6GB DDR3 1TB HDD Capacity Intel HD Graphics Windows 8

More all-in-one models: http://www.newegg.com/All-in-One-PC/...onStore/ID-124

Other than that, you're probably going to have to buy the PC and monitor separately.

I've been building computers for more than 15 years, mainly using Asus motherboards and video cards. Never once have I had an issue with their hardware.

Well, if that's the case, I have dealt with 3 lemons, those are my experiences. If I could do it all over again, I would have bought a Ipad Mini instead of a Nexus 7. I could just feel the difference in my hands, but my wallet just convinced me twice to be a cheap asshole.

That can happen to any manufacturer. Maybe they had a bad run, maybe they purchased a bad batch of hard drives, video cards, etc. If it's in the first year, it's covered by the warranty.

I have an iPad 2 and I think it's a joke. But then again, I dislike Apple products altogether (even though we own three iPhone 4s's and two iPads).

I truly dislike Apple's OS. I also think it sucks that Apple doesn't support flash and that in many cases, you have to use half-assed "apps" in order to view a website even close to how's it's viewed on a PC.

Blech.

1. No way do I get any sort of Mac for the price range.
2. MUST have Windows 7 Professional (network purposes). I realize I cat get that separately and install it, though.
3. He doesn't want an all-in-one or a laptop. He's a lawyer in his 60's. He just went from a flip phone to an iPhone. That has been a headache for me since he discovered I have an iPhone as well. Even the other paralegal in the office asked if we'd worked out an IPhone consulting contract...lol. He's used to a tower, he wants a tower and bigger monitor, and he's getting what he wants.

Just buy a Dell. For those without IT support, or technical knowledge, that is the easiest route.
