2010 was a complete fraud. We had the #1 running game and Jamaal was averaging over 6 ypc. He should have raped the league, but only threw for 3,100 yards. Pathetic!

The real Matt Cassel showed up against Baltimore, when he went 9/18, 70 yards, 3 INTs, took 3 sacks, and didn't even target Bowe one time in that game.

He hasn't.

He has always played like dog shit against good teams, or when the Chiefs struggle to run the ball, or when the defense struggles.

That's the entire premise of The Declaration of Independence, MO.

Read it. Know it. Love it.

He is doing what he has always done.

The guy has been a sack of shit here outside of a handful of games in 2010, and a few in 2011 against utterly awful teams.

This is the answer right here.

In 2010 we played teams that failed at pass rush mostly, thus Cassel did ok. But every game that we played against a strong defense, he fail out right.

Rams game vs Ravens game.

He hasn't changed, we just haven't recieved a such a sissy schedule since then.

27-7 is an aberration.

He completed less than 60% of his passes for just over 200 yards a game, a number that was buffered by the 400+ garbage time yards against the Donkeys.

He is still completing less than 60% of his passes with a lot of garbage time yards.

Claythan has been nailing the truth throughout this thread.

He only looked good against Arizona and Seattle in 2010. Find a torrent of that 2010 Seattle game. Cassel played better in that game than he's ever played in his life. That was some impressive ****ing quarterbacking.

Too bad he's too mentally weak to play at even 10% of that level ever again.

Even then, mostly he was hitting wide open guys.

Bowe was open by 10 yards on that 36-yard TD.

He was wide open on the TD slant.

He was wide open at the back of the end zone on his first TD.

Cassel's last TD to Moeaki was basically in "Positive" garbage time because we were up 11 points with 2-3 minutes left.

Cassel had like 230 yards passing in that game. He had a good game, but he didn't make a shit ton of impressive throws.

I could prove this all with GIFs, but...you know it's true.

He is what he has always been. It just shows up more on certain Sundays. He has always played horrible against the Chargers except when Haley got on his ass. Anyone who expected more from Cassel is delusional.

It was more the little things in that game. His footwork, decision making, 3rd-down completions, going through progressions. He played like a real quarterback that game.

Doubtless because there was no pressure from that pitiful Seahawks defense.

Chiefnj2 told me yards don't matter.

The question is why is Cassel 2012 worse than 2010, not why doesn't Cassel throw for yards like a real QB.

Some people claim he was just as bad in 2010 than he is now. I disagree. The 27:7 proves it. He was a better game manager in 2010 with Weis than he is now when he has even better receiving weapons around him. The comparison is between the two Cassel's, not Cassel and other NFL QBs.

Hammock Parties 10-03-2012 12:47 PM

Here are Cassel's PFF breakdowns by year.

You can clearly see he only does well against shit defenses, apart from two games against San Diego. And he was fairly shitty in one of those games to be honest, he just avoided turnovers.

All 27-7 proves is that there was less pressure on him to make plays.

We played crappy teams, the running game beasted, and the defense was typically playing with a lead.

He wasn't asked to do much, so he avoided turnovers, and Bowe got the ball into the end zone. Or Charles got us near the end zone, and Cassel threw a short pass for a TD. To Bowe.

Mirage.

We are playing crappy teams now and last year and he sucked/sucks.

Weis knew what he was working with. He called plays suited to Cassel's talents (lack thereof). He gave him little room for failure, but you can only do so much. The 2010 season still showed signs of his true capabilities (again, lack thereof).

The Chargers aren't crappy. The Falcons aren't crappy. The Bills' defensive line was good enough to ruin Cassel's shit.

It's not a coincidence that Cassel was "good enough" to help us beat the Saints.

And what happened in that game? The running game beasted. The defense beasted. Just like 2010.

Cassel's best games come against horrible football teams. Proven fact.
