Regents approve new Baylor Football Stadium.

The trend of smaller capacity stadiums continues with Baylor, capping the attendance at 45,000.

BYU has been a rumored addition many times in the past couple years. Boise St. simply has no where close to the academic requirements for the Big 12 (I'm not sure they even have a US News and World Report ranking).

The Big 12 have stated publicly that they are happy with 10 members and the media deals being signed reflect that even at 10 members the Big 12 holds with all the other major conferences when it comes to value.

The only team publicly mentioned by Big 12 officials to be added is Notre Dame. Word is that the teams in the Big 12 have different thoughts on expansion; KSU, Baylor, WVU, TCU and Texas Tech all favor expansion... Texas, OU, OSU are against expansion at this time... Kansas, ISU are in the camp of willing to expand but with certain conditions that are to be met.

This is further discussed in the Conference Realignment thread. This thread is not for expansion. Only to discuss the football being played in the Big 12 this fall with a focus on the eight teams not in our local area. KU and KSU have their own football threads for this season which already include thousands of posts where you can find all the information you need on those teams.

A thread about the Big XII excluding Kansas, Kansas State, and expansion? Should be a hotbed of interesting posts.

Not too difficult to beat middle of the conference.

Chiefs Pantalones 07-21-2012 07:01 PM

Can we leave the KU/MU piss contest to a minimum in this thread? They are no longer in the same conference so it's pointless and empty. Best of luck to the Tigers in the SEC.

I'm excited for this season and actually liked the Weis hire. It can't get worse, can it? lol. I'm excited to see how WV and TCU do. Can't wait! FOOTBALL IS BACK!

Obviously KU and KSU should be discussed here in their relation to other Big 12 teams and their respective interaction with the conference.

I'm was more speaking to the minutiae and details when it comes to KU which have been discussed thoroughly in the KU thread. But if something happens that is of immediate impact and you don't want to wade through the thousands of posts in this years thread then feel free to post it here.

I am too. TCU will be down with all the recent legal trouble their team has been through but they'll be plenty excited to come in and show they belong in a BCS level conference.

I think WVU is going to win the whole thing. Geno Smith is my pick for Heisman as well. He's an awesome player.

I'd be fine with a B1G thread. I may even post in it. Then again I think the B1G is going to be all Penn State for the next decade or so. Not sure how much football is going to matter in that region anymore.

I think Penn State will win more games than KU and even if the football program is abolished they'll still have the same number of conference wins as KU did last year.

Cool. Feel free to start a thread about the Big 10 and Penn State's football future. As a KU fan I love the fact that my school has zero interaction with that institution.

Florida St. will join the Big12, its just a matter of when.

OSU lost a lot of weapons, and I am not sold on TCU at all. However, I think anywhere from 4-6 is reasonable.

There is very little separating 3-6.

Not sure why K-State is picked 6th. They lost one of the Browns if they could just lose the other they'd be the 2nd best team in conference.

If UT finds an offense, they could win the B12. Their D is fuggin balls. Therefore, I think there are 3 tiers in the B12:

Tier 1
OU
WVU
UT

Tier 2
TCU
KSU
OSU

Tier 3
Baylor
ISU
TT

The 70 they put on Clemson in the Orange Bowl is fueling a lot of it I'm sure. The last thing people remember seeing is those receivers and backs running through the ACC like butter.

I think Geno Smith is a great talent too.

But yes, you're right. The Big 12 is a different level when it comes to the offenses you have to go against. I think they'll do well but won't win it all.

Yeah, KU athletics this past season wasn't that bad. Football was terrible but they had very good seasons in mens/womens basketball, track and field, the womens soccer team made the ncaa tourney etc. They are turning it around in some sports, hopefully football will follow.

Watch what happens with Men's Golf now as well. Hiring the coach away from CSU that's been to the NCAA's 12 out of 14 years ought to help.

Hearing that Honey Badger might get back on the LSU team. If true then that will obviously confirm that the SEC_ is a fraud. Why even play teams from that conference. What a joke. Get lives and get some perspective. There's a reason why the NC title game featuring two SEC_ schools was the lowest rated ever. Most of us in the CFB world don't want to see programs that cheat and that's all the SEC_ is if they allow this. Its all they'll ever be.

I don't recall KU "kicking Talib off the team".

I have no problem with having first time offenders being given another chance.

But to act all high and mighty by dismissing a player for multiple offenses but then simply bringing them back on board in the attempt to win more football games is hypocrisy at it's finest. No redeeming quality to it. As if nothing from the Penn State situation has been learned.

Let's just hope what's being talked about isn't true.
