Royals fans knew they were watching a once-in-a-generation athlete. Now, ESPN’s Sport Science has weighed in, naming former two-sport superstar and Royals outfielder Bo Jackson the “Greatest Athlete of All Time”. The Sport Science study looked at many attributes, including speed, power and reaction time. Jackson earned the nod from the Sport Science panel, beating out the legendary Jim Brown.

ESPN will air a “Sport Science Greatest Athlete of All Time” special next Sunday, March 10, at 2:30 CT.

A poll is currently online at ESPN.com, with Jackson and Michael Jordan in a close race for the fan vote :

Jim Brown never had a chance.

I'm too young to have ever really watched him play; how did he compare to guys like Megatron and Lebron nowadays?

Well this one time... in a baseball game... he caught a fly ball going back, back, back at a dead sprint and rather than slam into the wall he literally ran up it and back down and back to the dugout.

Then another time he ran down a liner to the fence, fielded the ball on the track and threw a runner out at home and the ball never bounced on it's way there.

Plus he could hit it 500 feet and ran faster than anyone else on the field.

He was pretty good.

Since it's from ESPN, I'm just surprised he didn't have to beat out any horses or cars.
