Buehler445 04-27-2013 08:43 AM

Matt Barkley...

Hate him at 1.1, but I'd love him in the 4th. Why did he fall so far? Would he be a good pickup in the 4th?

penbrook 04-27-2013 08:45 AM

He would be s good pickup but Dorsey and Reid are so stupid to grab him.

boogblaster 04-27-2013 08:45 AM

maybe .....

Mr. Laz 04-27-2013 08:46 AM

shoulder is held together by super glue

Dave Lane 04-27-2013 08:46 AM

1st round value in the 4th round? No way the Chiefs pull that off.

penbrook 04-27-2013 08:48 AM

Reid always drafts a QB. Keep that in your mind.

jspchief 04-27-2013 08:48 AM

It will be interesting to see where he goes. Big enough name to fuel a QB controversy if he goes to a team that doesn't have a QB set in stone. That might turn off teams that want him only as a backup.

So we're going to get a Studabaker level OLB? OK.

penbrook 04-27-2013 08:48 AM

Lets hope the Jags dont take him first tommorow.

milkman 04-27-2013 08:49 AM

Yes, he would be an outstanding selection in the 4th round.

I expect, however, that the Chiefs will wait for the 5th round to select Zac Dysert, or the 6th round for Matt Scott.

Jax should take Barkly with today's first selection anyway.

penbrook 04-27-2013 08:50 AM

Jesse Williams, Quinton Patton, Barret Jones, Matt Barkley.

So many to choose from.

Jags like Nassib and Eagles like Matt Scott.

If Reid passes on Barkley expect to get some shit QB like Bray or Jones.

That's right, because he's already drafted TWO players, and neither one was a QB!

wazu 04-27-2013 08:53 AM

Isn't Tyler Wilson still available? I'd be more excited about picking him.

royr17 04-27-2013 08:55 AM

some good defensive lineman still available, william gholston, alex okafor, jesse williams, brandon jenkins, joe kruger, michael buchanan, lavarr edwards, malliciah goodman.

there is definately some really good talent left available in day 3. very surprised bout barkley and okafor being available, both i had seen listed as 2nd round picks in mock drafts, would love for the chiefs to pick up okafor in the 4th round.

Matt Barkley was a projected top 10 pick last year and a late first to early second this year. How did he make it to us I have no idea. But expect us to pass on him.

They were just talking about Barkley not being good for KC because his arm strength sucks. Nassib?

L.A. Chieffan 04-27-2013 08:58 AM

mob mentality. one team passes on him, then the next and the next. Pretty soon every team in the draft is wondering if somebody else knows something they don't.

Me too. Wilson is a gritty MF. Fits what we've being Doing this draft so far.

Nassib reminds me a bit of Kevin Kolb, which means maybe it's good for Reid, but it worries me.

I don't want Barkley or Tyler Wilson at this point. I want the QB with upside. Dysert would be a terrific pick. Safe is not the way to go in the 4th round.

I love the guns of guys like Stafford, Rodgers, Kaepernick, etc.

But the reality is that arm strength has little to do with a QB's ability to succeed, even in tough weather.

It's all about what they have above the shoulders.

He would have the strongest arm on the team if he were drafted.

KCChiefsFan88 04-27-2013 09:01 AM

Barkley would be a great pick at 4.2.

Develop him into either an eventual starter or if Alex Smith ends up working out as a long term solution in KC, develop him for future trade bait.

Either way it is a value pick for the Chiefs at 4.2.

what are you talking about ... Wilson has huge upside.

Bray and Wilson have more upside than Barkley/Nassib ... also plenty of bust potential.

Tyler Wilson is a polished college QB with a ton of experience and mental intangibles. With all that, he shouldn't fall to the 4th round. He's in the 4th round because he has tiny hands, throws a so-so deep ball, and has questionable accuracy at times.

Contrast that with Dysert. Dysert has the leadership and the physical intangibles, but he's just raw.

When guys as experienced as Wilson and Barkley fall this low despite having all the physical measurables, it's not an upside pick.

58-4ever 04-27-2013 09:11 AM

This won't be popular, but I like Nassib or Glennon more.

i disagree

Barkley is not an upside pick ... he is a higher floor, limited upside pick
Wilson has plenty of physical ability and untapped potential ... big boom/bust

It would be a hell of a coup to get Barkley this late in the draft. Hoping that he falls past the Jags and we pick him.

What we've seen is in the draft is that we passed on a lot of QBs that all teams didn't think very highly of. I will believe it when I see Smith with a long-term deal and KC in year 3 with the same QB. I hope you're wrong, but I'm not going to rule out that maybe you're right. It's just too soon to say.

xztop123 04-27-2013 09:45 AM

It makes no sense that we draft him with our 4A. The running back we took 3 picks ahead of him would have for sure fallen to our 4A and Barkley may or may not. If we do indeed get him we handled that very poorly

Gut feelings have betrayed me before. One now tells me #Chiefs draft a QB in the 4th round. Barkley may be too good a value to pass up

A couple teams drafting high in Round 4 have their radar up for the possibility Matt Barkley lands in Kansas City.

Yeah I guess the fact that he hasn't yet been offered another contract is the only positive we have to hold on to at the moment.

He said something then they went to a commercial.

I guess this is my crow for wanting the team to take a QB at any point in the draft..

Of course it has to be a USC one with a jersey number 7

My preferred QB at this point is Dysert.

I heard them earlier talking about arm strength and weather conditions being the reason KC was a bad fit. Not sure if that was going to be brought up again, but they said that about an hour ago.

I'm not a fan of Barkley at this point. If there's any silver lining, if we pick him, it's that he's the most likely to turn this into a QB competition. Which hopefully makes the Chiefs wait before extending Alex Smith.

I like Barkley, and would be happy if the Chiefs take him.

However, I also like Zac Dysert, and think he has more upside, so if someone trades up to take Barkley just ahead of the Chiefs, given your level of butt hurt with the geno Smith crowd, I would laugh my ass off.

There's absolutely no reason to get bent out of shape if the Chiefs don't draft Barkley here, since the organization just passed on him at the end of the third.
