Rank These Talents (Mid Round ILBs)

According to how you think the Chiefs should rank them:

Hayes Pullard, USC
Taiwan Jones, Michigan State
Mike Hull, Penn State
Jake Ryan, Michigan
Ramik Wilson, Georgia
Bryce Hager, Baylor
Zach Vigil, Utah State
Ben Heeney, Kansas
Trey DePriest, Alabama

Not that excited about some of the missing ILBs on that list.

1. Taiwan Jones - best thumper of this bunch, but not useless in coverage for short zones. (rd 4)
2. Ramik Wilson - thicker than I first thought. Solid all around game.
3. Bryce Hager - smooth in transition.. might get too engulfed.

I like Pullard, Heeney and Hull, but think they may not fit so well in a 34. In fact none of these options, except for Jones, are ideal for disengaging off the blocks that will come their way.

Check out a LB named Kevin Snyder. He's off everyone's radar, and could be a real gem.

"It's awesome," Snyder said. "I keep telling people, 'I feel like I'm in high school again.' Up through college, I was battling sore knees, sore whatever it may be. Getting in that training, I'm able to run smooth, change direction, feel good again. I had a lot of work on (the toe), and I think I've turned the corner."

Snyder showed better quickness than some defensive backs as he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.54 seconds, which would have been good for second among linebackers at the NFL Combine, and the 60-yard shuttle in 11.41 seconds. He notched the highest vertical jump (35 inches) of the 14 recent Rutgers alums at Pro Day. The 6-foot-2 two-year starter said he entered training at 236 pounds, quickly dropped down to 229 and is at 238 in the process of working his way to 240 while remaining leaner.

The new-and-improved Snyder also is revisiting long snapping, a skill he used at Cumberland Valley (Pa.) High School

Also a fan of Jordan Hicks and Martrell Spaight early on day 3.

Now that I've made my pick in the CP mock, I think the Chiefs will view all of those players as guys who lack a crucial component to playing ILB in a 3-4, whether that's something that can be coached up or not.

Out of all of them, Zach Vigil seems to be the most balanced while also possessing some elite traits in his play recognition.

They can all probably play special teams, but if they're looking for somebody to do more than that and 2-down blocker containment, Zach Vigil probably comes the closest to being that player.

2013 season I liked AJ Johnson a lot but the more I watched him the slower he seemed.

BTW you left out Perryman as a mid round ILB.
