Westboro baptist at Sprint Center this weekend

So, these nutjobs are going to picket Bon Jovi. Who's up for a CP pester the picketers event?

displacedinMN 04-10-2013 12:53 PM

Why Bon Jovi?

Someone should picket them.

tooge 04-10-2013 12:55 PM

something about people idolizing them or some bs. I've always wanted to go to one of those events and jack with the nutjobs

Bowser 04-10-2013 12:56 PM

That's going to work well for them with all the drunks staggering in and out of Power and Light.

BlackHelicopters 04-10-2013 12:56 PM

Will be in KC starting on Fri. I'm up.

Stewie 04-10-2013 12:57 PM

They've picketed several shows at Sprint Center. The last two I've gone to they were there (Jimmy Buffett and Van Halen).

mesmith31 04-10-2013 12:59 PM

Picketing Bon Jovi? Whats next the RATT reunion? It's a slippery when wet slope.

ptlyon 04-10-2013 01:02 PM

They have been at several concerts I've been to there. Not sure why as most had absolutely no connection to politics or gay rights or anything. I guess they are pretty good at stretching their logic to give themselves a reason to 'protest' or whatever it is they do.

Radar Chief 04-10-2013 01:06 PM

Bon Jovi?! :spock:
Oh wait, I actually kinda understand that one.

RATT did have that video with Milton Berle in drag, so I'd have to say that they really are asking for a Phelps protest.

DMAC 04-10-2013 01:08 PM

Yes, pester them so they will runaway.

Deberg_1990 04-10-2013 01:11 PM

Bon Jovi huh?

Ive seen stuff on Disney channel thats more "edgy"

gblowfish 04-10-2013 01:13 PM

Bill Maher is going to be in Topeka soon. They should go pester him....

Marcellus 04-10-2013 01:19 PM

Things must be slow in the hate mongering business if BonJovi is on the to do list.

Maybe they think the band is a bunch of trans sexuals?

Or they are now protesting 45 year old women having fun?

Sounds like a good target for them. When I've seen them outside the Sprint Center, people kind of treated them as a tourist attraction/freak show. There wasn't any yelling or anything from either side, but people would go up and troll them a bit. Some people, including some (I assume) gays went up to them and had pictures taken with them. The Phelps clan pretty much just politely played along.

Sounds like exactly what they want. The more attention/publicity the better.

Strongside 04-10-2013 01:25 PM

I'm going to wear my GoPro and go **** with them. Hopefully I'll strike internet gold.

WhawhaWhat 04-10-2013 01:27 PM

They protested the Foo Fighters at the Sprint Center back in 2011, so the Foo Fighters made a joke of it.

When i was walking around downtown San Diego last year for Comic Con, there was some Christian group there protesting. I went up to go troll a guy and before i said anything, he gave me a business card.

It was a calling card to God just in case i get locked up in hell and needed to call someone.

I thought it was ****ing hilarious and clever. I took the card, left the christians alone went on about my business with a smile on my face.

I would advocate throwing them in room together locking the door and throwing away the key. They deserve each other.

Predarat 04-10-2013 01:58 PM

Someone should go there and hand out Books of Morman and Islam Pamphlets to the wboro protestors.

Jiu Jitsu Jon 04-11-2013 12:00 AM

The more attention you pay them, the more of a "difference" they think they're making. If you attack them they'll just consider it as persecution and you'll further the martyr complex. They may very well sue you as well if you get physical with them, from what I've gathered.

I'm pretty sure Jesus told his disciples the world would hate them because they hated Him and reminded them of Him, not because they acted like a bunch of assholes.

007 04-11-2013 12:13 AM

I wish people would just ignore them.

I just don't understand how regular christians can call these guys whack jobs. all they are doing is taking the BIBLE literally. They follow the bible like a policy manual and that's pretty much what the bible tells them to do....

I just don't understand why Christians judge others at all? 95% of them do, and that is exactly the opposite of what they are supposed to do.

Yet, they do it more than anyone else I have come into contact with. Maybe it's just me.

We're allowed to use our brains ya know.. So you're saying if some dude is doing sacrifices at his home we should not judge that guy and go over to his house for dinner? Reading comprehension fail....

Well if you read or comprehend slowly and don't get to or understand the newer book....you're right.

Total fail, yeah. Judging everything that moves and not wanting to be around someone that makes you uncomfortable are totally the exact same thing.

When I first moved to Oklahoma, I went with a buddy to a small casino to play some low stakes poker for shits. There was some Christian group out front handing out pamphlets and telling everyone they were sinning by going in and gambling. I don't know why I posted this, but whenever I hear about Westboro, it reminds me of that.

Yeah, the book says you're not supposed to judge. So.... you don't get to pick and choose based on your personal opinion of severity. It didn't say don't judge, unless the person does this and this and this. You're basically admitting to the fact that you say you don't judge for little things, but big serious things it should be obvious that you do indeed judge. But that shouldn't be your judgement to make.

Reading comprehension on your part dude...

You really shouldn't judge man, unless you want to be judged. It's good that you're an authority on a subject you couldn't care less about. :spock:

Why would you say I don't care about it? Besides, I'm not claiming to be an authority on it. That's not necessary. The judgment part is a pretty widely known aspect of Christianity. It's one of the positive aspects of the religion. You should try it sometime.

Can you see a difference between judging someones behavior and condemning them to eternity in hell? Come on, I'm sure you can.

No, you just need to send a few very flamboyant gay men their direction and they scatter like their asses are on fire. They are the pure definition of homophopic, they are terrified of gay people.

Yes I can see the difference. But isn't it supposed to be the act of judging that you're supposed to avoid, instead of the condemnation part that you're incapable of? Isn't that kind of the point?
