Books that ****ed you up

there is really only one book that left me disturbed for quite some time after reading it, and it is Aztec by Gary Jennings.
Has anyone here read it as well?
Did you feel the same way, and are there other books that leave you with a similar feeling?

Quote:

Aztec is the extraordinary story of the last and greatest native civilization of North America. Told in the words of one of the most robust and memorable characters in modern fiction, Mixtli-Dark Cloud, Aztec reveals the very depths of Aztec civilization from the peak and feather-banner splendor of the Aztec Capital of Tenochtitlan to the arrival of Hernán Cortás and his conquistadores, and their destruction of the Aztec empire. The story of Mixtli is the story of the Aztecs themselves---a compelling, epic tale of heroic dignity and a colossal civilization's rise and fall.

Think I'd have to go with the Exorcist for a book that had me thinking Holy Shit Balls.

Much better than the movie

if any of you read this crazy book, the point that really did it for me was realizing what it was that made the disfigured glob of a person drain tears

Nazi Doctors: Medical Killing and the Psychology of Genocide by Robert Lifton. Most disturbing book I have ever read; human beings are capable of obscene and unspeakable horror and can compartmentalize the same with ease. My mother in law is a retired nurse and gave it to me about 10 years ago (we exchange books quite often), and it took me three months to get through it.

Son of a bitch.

I'm sure you knew which house you were going to, right?

I don't think I've ever read a book in its' entirety lol.
I don't have the attention span to get into one.

The Monster at the End of This Book really messed with me. I kept turning the page thinking that there's be a monster and I was soooo scared. However, my morbid curiosity got the best of me and I kept turning the page.
Spoiler!
