I hate dongles
We have a rotary engraving machine at my work. Expensive as hell. Well it has one of those USB security dongles. It has 4 little prongs inside of it. One of our dimwit employees somehow broke one of those prongs off and now we can't engrave this plate that a customer needs tonight. I called the company that made/sold the machine, and they told me that dongle will cost 1,000 dollars. REALLY!?! ****. That. It's our machine. We bought it. We shouldn't have to shell out a thousand dollars for a piece of dog shit, cheaply made dongle just to use it.
So my question is, is there any way to bypass that security thing? I've looked online and cannot find anything. The machine is called Vision Engraving & Routing 1624. |
you hate him because he's like british or something? I've never had a problem with him

if you can get used to his constant questions and love for big oil, he aint that bad of a guy.

Step 1. Fire employee
Step 2. Hire an employee that's not a complete dipshit. |
Speaking of which, can anyone recommend a reliable USB to DB-9/RS-232 dongle? I got a POS one from Radio Shack and it doesn't work.
Thanks. |

Wow. Sounds like extortion.
You should be able to solder the pin back in. If it's on a desktop, I'd consider just soldering the dongle to the board inside the chasis. |
Heh. You said dongle. Heh.
