Those planes are pretty impressive. I was wondering how high their ceiling was, and apparently it's 19,000 feet. According to wikipedia, the empty weight of the plane is 930 pounds. Why are we not all flying those things?

Impressive, but stupid.

I can just imagine the Instructor of that guy facepalming right now.

It was probably in Alaska.

Those guys have serious skills, and that mountain was probably one of the more suitable landing spots for the area.

Probably because the cheapest one I found was 60 years old and still $75k.

Those guys have mad skills, they can land and take off anywhere... They push those cubs to the extreme...

Not a better airplane for those kind of enviroments.

notorious 11-12-2013 11:47 AM

That's a lot to pay for some fabric and a big engine.

Buehler might know the guy from Scott City that had his Super Cub taken by Fish and Game for spotting deer for hunters.

That Super Cub was over 125k. LMAO

When the stall speed is -5 kts, you can do some cool shit.

I have seen one take off, pull the throttle back, fly backwards, then land on the runway.
