Super happy with the Toub hire.

1. It creates some major needs on defense. The last time we switched schemes we used the #3 pick on Tyson Jackson... Would have to see a defense "need" prevent us from taking a QB.

2. When you look at all the DC names we heard of most of them run the cover 2. I think that's an outdated defense, especially against running qbs. While I'd love to have Lovie Smith, I don't want to see the cover two back in KC.

It doesn't create needs, it just moves them.

Right now we need to 3 'box' defenders; 2 DEs and an ILB. If we switched to the 4-3, we'd need 2 'box' defenders, IMO and 3 at worst - 2 OLBs and maybe a NT. Houston and Hali would move to DEs with Poe in the undertackle role. I think Powe could be a very good 4-3 Nose, so I'm not sure that's a true need if you switch to a 4-3.

It doesn't create any holes, it just moves them. We did a shit job at converting to the 3-4 anyway; most of the guys we had in it weren't all that well suited for it and one guy that was (Jackson) actually sucked a great deal. I'd go back to the 4-3 and focus on creating pressure from my down lineman like the Giants did to win the SB.

Toub is the best ST coordinator in the league. That's a huge get if true, and certainly offsets any question marks at a couple position spots that may be unfounded anyway.

Does sutton run a 34?

Totally agree. Well said.

Jets run a 3-4.

It's assumed he'll run the same scheme.

Herm Edwards said he can run either.

#Bears S-T coordinator Dave Toub is at the Chiefs' headquarters this morning, interviewing with new coach Andy Reid, according to source.

Anyone get the feeling some of these are Juan Castillo-ish hires?

Prolly just me.
