They aren't the same. One is branded "Nabisco" (American packaging) and the other is branded for foreign markets as "Kraft." I don't know if they are made in the same place though.

Barnum's Animal Crackers are all produced in the Fair Lawn, New Jersey Bakery by Nabisco Brands. More than 40 million packages of Barnum's Animal Crackers are sold each year, both in the United States and exported to 17 countries worldwide. The crackers are baked in a 300-foot (91 m) long traveling band oven. They are in the oven for about four minutes and are baked at the rate of 12,000 per minute. Fifteen thousand cartons and 300,000 crackers are produced in a single shift, using some thirty miles of string on the packages. This runs to nearly 8,000 miles (13,000 km) of string a year. Those bright circus boxes are produced in three colors - red, blue and yellow - with different variety of animals on each.

RIP :(

It's like the now defunct Iced Animal cookies. They just aren't the same as they used to be.

Hmm. I just noticed that the second box has "limited edition" printed on the side. It also has a polar bear motif. I wonder if you got some crackers that were sitting in a warehouse for a long time waiting for the Christmas season. Check the expiration date.

listopencil 01-08-2013 02:15 AM

Also, look at the flaps on top. There is a fake gift tag printed on it. It's a special Christmas edition box of cookies. The sell by date is in between the tag and the polar bears. Read it.

God damn it, Sacopoo. I am now emotionally invested in your box of animal crackers and you've logged off.

What happened with the animal crackers?

scho63 01-17-2013 07:28 PM

Nothing today tastes like it used to. All the major food companies are using synthetic ingredients to replace the more expensive natural ones.

Have you recently had a Milky Way or Three Musketeers? They are INEDIBLE and taste like shit!
