Bioshock takes to the skies in Bioshock Infinite

Even though 2 was a letdown, this trailer looks promising:

<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/pV_TDxl2UIo?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/pV_TDxl2UIo?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

Edit: See post #7 for awesome gameplay video.

Fairplay 08-12-2010 10:03 PM

Can't really tell if a game will be good with a trailer like that actually.

The graphics are awesome though.

007 08-12-2010 10:07 PM

Well that looks bizarre.

TrickyNicky 08-12-2010 10:36 PM

Ken Levine is involved with this one, I expect it will be good.

Reaper16 08-12-2010 10:39 PM

Ken Levine has spoken a little bit about the game. He mentioned that it will explore the ideas of American exceptionalism, imperialism and Manifest Destiny.

Fairplay 08-12-2010 10:43 PM

Well, as long as we have the option to kill little girls is all that really matters.

Third Eye 09-22-2010 11:41 PM

Wow! Nearly 10 minutes, but absolutely amazing. For some reason the HD trailer is very stuttery for me, don't know if that will be the case for everyone though.

That pretty much sums up my reaction. Shame this game isn't coming till 2012.

allen_kcCard 09-23-2010 10:29 AM

My favorite thing is that it is all done in what I can see as being gameplay to be like. Sure, some of the scripted stuff might be be something I can do other than in a cutscene, but everything else seems to be something you can do while you are playing for yourself.

Too often game trailers are like a part of a movie loosely based on the game.

This footage was apparently playable behind closed doors at a press-only function in August. Just now being shown publicly.

Demonpenz 09-23-2010 11:11 AM

earlier reviews is that the "playable" parts in the trailor isn't going to reflect the game. It is just show off grafix. It is really going to be a sidescroller much like the Genisis game Aladdin.

keg in kc 09-23-2010 01:22 PM

I couldn't get into Bioshock, but that looked pretty insane/awesome.

Frazod 09-23-2010 01:29 PM

2nd one wasnt made by Irrational Games, it was made by 2K Marin. Tho some of the guys from Irrational were head of 2K Marin. lol It was one of them, lets just cash in on the Bioshock name. lol 3rd one will be great. They been working on that shit for a while now. I am sure since before B2 even came out.

It wasnt as good as it should have been, but every gaming company puts out games to cash in on the name sometimes. We will always see that. lol

QuikSsurfer 03-26-2013 08:47 AM

I can't wait to fire this up tonight. I've had it preloaded on my PC for a week now. It's go time.

I have it for PC waiting for me tonight as well. I really really really really wish I could get off work early to play this shit. I haven't been as hyped for a game since Arkham City came out, and honestly, I might be more hyped for Bioshock Infinite than I was for that. Although Arkham City definitely was a 10/10 game for me.

I got to play a bit of Infinite on 360 on Saturday but it kept crashing on me. It was a burned copy lol. I had it preordered for PC, but damn it I was impatient. The 360 version looks like crap compared to what I've seen of it on PC. Not that I'm a big graphics whore, but god damn if I have the option, may as well play the much prettier PC version ya know?

It's not as good as the first one, but that was a damn masterpiece. It's still a good game though. I played it on 360 the first time. Definitely definitely better on PC, though it forces me to play with mouse/keyboard, whereas the first one on PC had gamepad support. Kinda weird that the 2nd one doesn't.

I thought the DLC "Minerva's Den" was really great DLC. It was possibly my favorite part of Bioshock 2.

TrickyNicky 03-26-2013 11:48 AM

There were some great deals to be had. I bought Infinite, Xcom, Shogun 2 TW, and Civ 5 for $60.

While Columbia is a fine setting all itself and has had it's moments, it's lacked that same feel so far.

Bioshock 2 could've been better but my thought they should've atleast saved Andrew Ryan atleast for the second one it just felt like a spinoff

I loved the creepiness of it. Wandering around in a pitch black room, you turn around and barely make out the outline of somebody/something just standing there. Is it alive? Does it see me? Then it attacks. Playing that game at night in a dark room, I nearly jumped out of my chair a couple of times. Very effective.

Agreed. So far this new one doesn't have that type of creepiness factor. It's still great, don't get me wrong.

Also, anyone know shit about computers and graphic cards? I have a Nvidia GTX 560 that my brother gave me when he got a new one. It runs Infinite pretty well on "Very High" but it's a bit too choppy on "Ultra". What would be a good cheap upgrade for me?

System shock 2 is a 14 year old game, so graphically it's dated. But the gameplay and immersion still top most recent games. I'm playing through Bioshock infinite now and it just feels like I'm going through the motions.

I introduced my son to system shock 2 a few months ago, so I just got through playing through it again. No comparison. I was totaly immersed once again in System Shock 2. It's a game that will have you on edge. The sound design, like all of the looking glass games, is incredible. You will have chills go down your spine quite often. You will probably shriek like a little girl on several occasions as well.

There was a patch that was released recently that makes it easy to install and play. Do yourself a favor and check it out.

Absolutely I'll play it. I've seen it before. Yeah the graphics are outdated as hell, but I still play Atari and NES so that doesn't mean shit to me. In fact, we're slow at work today. I'm thinking about installing it right now lol.

I was going to ask about that. Is this game anywhere near as creepy as Bioshock 1? It seems the setting doesn't lend itself to enforcing a sense of dread.
