Additionally, this is stupid. There are several elite talents for boxing as well as MMA/K1 that could b stars. For example, JDS is someone who wanted to be in boxing but to do Brasil's boxing scene, he was ignored. I think it is safe to say he has plenty of skills to be a relevant HW boxer.

Goes to crookedness of the boxing promoters. I was also speaking to having American heavyweights. IMHO nothing beats a good competitive (not fixed) boxing match.

Yup. Boxing isn't very popular period due to their ineffective promoting and use of talent. Additionally, you have guys that are starting to realize they can cross train and make much more money at lower levels than they could with boxing without having to deal with shitty managers, sponsors, and can earn more recognition via MMA.

I would exchange the word "ineffective" with "crooked". Everything else is 100% on, but I do really think that guys like Don King ruined boxing. If you are a 6'4 230 guy with a mean streak and some fighting skills, why let some crooked a-hole steal money from you, fix your fight etc. when you can make more money and have more control over yourself?

Totally agree. I think you have to include both though. King is both crooked and a horrible promoter for how the market has changed. Boxing hasn't even tried to get a network (free) fight.

Yep... I remember the days of Mike Tyson being on ESPN on Friday or Saturday night. I think boxing is pretty much on it's last legs, too bad.

As someone who is more a fan of K1, ADCC/Mundials and MMA, I'm pretty devastated at what boxing has become. I love elite level boxing.

I really wish that there wasn't such a rivalry between the 2 sports but I'm not in charge. :(
