Carson Palmer unwilling to restructure?

Word on the street is that Palmer is not open to restructuring his contract. I predict he'll go somewhere like Arizona. McKenzie may draft a QB this year after all. Unless said QB really impresses I'd expect Pryor to start next year.

Simply Red 03-25-2013 10:37 PM

exactly. Which means if someone values geno, like the people on this board do, then a sweet trade may be a coming.

Here's the thing, no one seriously looks at CP as any kind of longterm QB answer. I don't believe this changes the Raiders QB draft plans one iota. I could be wrong, but i believe the Raiders have been interested in Geno since the word go...

So you traded a 1st and a 2nd for a season and a half of shifty QBing. Sweet.

Deberg_1990 03-26-2013 06:24 AM

Whats the story with this guy? On paper, his stats look good from last season and actually are decent taken as a career whole.

But then you look at his record as a starter and he blows. 54-67 overall.

IM guessing he never performs in crunch time or cant ever get a lead? Only a garbage time QB.

In58men 03-26-2013 06:27 AM

Who?

Pasta Little Brioni 03-26-2013 06:56 AM

What a train wreck of an organization. 1st and 2nd for 7 wins and a bunch of empty yards. Heading into a season with Terrel Pryor as the QB would be even more gold.

I know right! They only beat us twice last year! What a joke of an organization!

Pryor showed a ton of poise in the game he started for them last year and I've read that he has an excellent work ethic. Still a project, but very intriguing prospect, IMO.

AdumbGuy 03-26-2013 08:10 AM

I don't see the Raiders drafting Geno, since they already have a project QB in Pryror and a shit ton of holes to fill everywhere on the team.

**** the Broncos, but I'd actually like to see the Raiders and Chargers become respectable and bring the AFC West back to being a feared division.

Pasta Little Brioni 03-26-2013 08:13 AM

True, although even the Arizona QBs or even Buttfumble probably would've been an upgrade to those asshats.

Mr. Laz 03-26-2013 09:30 AM

sort of a big deal

If the Faiders do cut Palmer then teams will have to assume the the Faiders will go Quarterback in the draft at 1.3. That cuts down the teams they have to work with on a trade up to the Jags and Chiefs.

more value for us

Raiders already have a young prospect qb. Additionally, Carson Palmer is a starting QB. Other than his phillip rivers-esque ability to throw pick sixes late in games, he's probably better than Alex Smith in most categories.

Palmer being released gives teams another option to trading up to draft a QB.

you really think the faiders are going into the season with Terrelle Pryor as their starting QB?

You really think all the other teams in the NFL can count on the Faiders doing that?

With what they gave up for Palmer, at this point I wouldn't be surprised if they started a 10 gallon hat at qb.

Pryor's been there 3 years, started a game last year, and didn't cassel himself in it. He's basically an advanced rookie. He's a mobile qb at the height of the mobile qb era of the nfl.

I just don't see how him starting at QB would be any different from a rookie starting there.

Depends on how good the think Pryor is but i think it's bad business to allow mistakes made in the past to force bad decisions in the future.

whatever screwed up stuff happened because of Palmer can't stop you from making proper player evaluations now

I actually agree with this, and as such, am holding on to the ridiculous hope that we still draft geno, despite picking up alex smith.

I still think saying the raiders need to draft a qb in the first round is like everybody saying the chiefs need a LT first overall. Just as our Oline was the least of our worries, the Raiders seemed to have far bigger problems than bad QB play.

Chiefs are a 9-10 win team with even average QB play. Alex can give them that. He's certainly much better than having the worst QB play in the league like they've had the last 2 seasons. Any more under Reid's tuteledge and look out.
