IE6 won't work anymore :(
 

After discovering a virus called minime My IE doesn't work anymore..I have gotten rid of the virus but I can't uninstall IE6 nor can I reinstall IE6 or 7. I can access the net using fierefox and have tried several fixes using the internet for knowledge, but nothing has worked. Everything I try then click on IE and it just loads then hangs, anyone have suggestions? I'm gonna reformat tomorrow if I can't find a solution.

have you tried turning off all the add-on and plug-ins?


start>run
typing iexplore.exe -extoff

also try to register IEPROXY.DLL


start>run

typing regsvr32 IEPROXY.DLL

says windows cannot find regsvr32,dll :(

try tricking windows into thinking IE6 is not installed:

Start>Run.

2. type regedit

3. Locate the following registry subkey

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components\{89820200-ECBD-11cf-8B85-00AA005B4383}

right-click the IsInstalled (REG_DWORD) value, and then click Modify.

4. Change the value data from 1 to 0, and then click OK.

5. exit

try installing IE again

Reformat.reinstall.. I do it about once a year or every other year...

Buy a mac and stop using internet virus explorer and nutscrape and start using firefox and safari

Consider yourself lucky that IE only destroyed itself and not all your data, too.
