I was really looking forward to going this year, especially since they just started cheap Branson-Austin flights. But I saw Phish last year at Roo, the Lips in OKC on NYE, and Robert Earl Keen in Nov.

I'm tempted to do Lolla instead, even thought the setup at Grant Park is less than ideal.

What does the bold type in your OP signify, NewPhin? Is that just personal commentary about which bands are more attractive to you?

Yeah. The bolded ones are the ones I'd really like to see. Some of the non-bolded are as well, but those are the ones that made me say, "Damn! I want to see them."

And Phish is mainly included out of nostalgia and because I haven't seen them since like 1998.

I don't know anything about their music, but I like the name "Slightly Stoopid".

I'd go just to see Gogol Bordello.

Austin, Texas must be heaven 'cause they always have the best music.

They're sort of punk/reggae combination. I haven't heard that much of them, but remind me a little of sublime. Most famous because they're big stoners and sing about getting high all the time. All the high school kids love them.

NewPhin, it looks like we have similar taste in music. I would love to see a lot of those bands.

w/o the music, Austin isn't very appealing. Areas right outside of Austin are heavenly, but the city itself is meh.

the only two artists I'd care to see are Balmorhea and Beach House, and I've already seen them both previously, so........I'm gonna pass.
