Solid B.

B-
|
Torn between A- and B+ so I was generous.
|
A-
Left passing plays out there, didn't take advantage of intermediate/deep WR's when open, uncanny ability to know when to scramble and extend drives, far more accurate and poised this year than any of his career... |
A great job.
|
solid B for me as well.

B and a very solid B it is.
|
B+ to A-. Would've been a B or a B- before today's game.
Those projected stats to end the season would be solid. More than I expected before the season began. |
B. You can't give him an A unless his game has been nearly perfect. It's been good, but not perfect.
|
A.
Played smart, solid football through 4 games. 4-0 start. Hes done it through the air and with his legs, and showed today that when the offense has to get it done through the air, he can keep the offense going. Charles was shut down for most of the football game on the ground. 288 yards and 2 TDs when the other team WANTS you to throw the football, that's damn good. If he continues to play like this all season, good things will happen. |
Solid B from me.
|
It is an A. Period. Getting better every single week.
|
Solid 'B' and improving.
|
B if we had a loss.
A- because he has been PHENOMENAL in the 4th quarter. Just like the CP QB snobs said an elite QB needs to be. |
B+ for me.
A few too many drive killing 3 and outs this year keeps him from getting an A. But admittedly, he's doing it without a solid running game. |
B. Gets an A for today, though.

4-0. We blew out Jacksonville so we didn't need any 4th quarter heroics. Against Dallas, Philadelphia, and now NYG he has literally DESTROYED the opposition in the 4th quarter with monstrous, game closing drives for scores. Didn't turn the football over for 3 games, and his 2 picks today weren't of the "bonehead QB play" variety. 1st one is on Bowe, and the second was an act of the Football Gods. Not really sure what you want there, aside from padding stats dude. |

B+ or A-
He's missed some throws, but he has used his head, legs and arm to made the best of a suspect Oline, limited running game and mediocre receivers. well done |
A.
He's played smart, efficient football. He's protected the ball well and is beginning to find chemistry with his receivers, even though they dropped too many balls today. The Chiefs are 4-0 with three blowout wins. I'm not sure anyone could realistically ask for more. |
He will get better, so I feel funny about giving him an A... but I gots to. The drops, new system for all, and OL block fails get added in, and the B production turns into an A from me.
|
You can't give Alex an A, because he could have been much better in the first three games.
However if we are 4-0 and our QB can still play much better than he has, we're in good shape with him. |
4-0 and hasn't gotten in the way of the team. That's an A given the circumstance and expectations of the team going into the season. He's not playing like an MVP world beater but he's been exactly what we thought we were getting from San Francisco. His worst game so far he threw for 273 0td 0int and we still won convincingly.
He's been solid and stepping up every time we need him the most during games, can't really ask for more imo. |

Alex is good and improving
love to see the passes he made in the second half just need to get the Olines shit together |

He is growing with the teams offense as they are to him, this offense is still a work in progress that will only get better. He has earned an A! The question was not is he the best QB? |
B-.
This team is better overall than I gave them credit for before the season. The defense has been a lot better than I thought they would. This Chiefs are 4-0, but this was Alex's first game where I saw him not worry about making a mistake and just wing it. If I were to give him anything higher I would be grading him on a curve. But I'm grading him compared to franchise QBs. |
To me, it's pretty remarkable that his stats are what they are - fairly good across the board - given that our offensive line has played pretty poorly.
We're getting lots of help from our defense, but not from the offensive line. |
He's keeping the offense afloat when the running game is dormant.
That's a big upgrade for us. B |

He's been running for his life most of the time |
Quote:
Through the first 3 games you could see him battling between the devil and angel on his shoulders. Should I throw it? Pump, pump, pump. That DB is a little too close. Happy feet. Nope. Let's keep it safe and throw it 7 yards short of the sticks and hope for YAC. |
A+
|
Comparing him to other legit QB's in this league B-. Comparing him to what we've been used to since Green left, A+.
|
B

I gave him a B. Today was great though, despite the INTs. I loved that he at least threw some shots down the field.
One thing that worries me is his running. I love that he's picking up easy yards that the opposing D gives him, but he never slides and he always jumps in head first. I appreciate the fire and effort, but he also needs to realize that this team is absolutely screwed if he gets his head knocked off and Chase has to come in. |
He had no running game and the OL has been getting overrun at times, I give him a B+ thus far, he's been solid, smart, has made plays when they were there, dealt with a lot of dropped passes today and still got shit done. Chiefs looking good, with this defense and a controlled offense, they can ride this thing all the way to the playoffs. Broncos will be a huge test.
|
B to B-. Today he showed the balls to make some gutsy throws. If he can continue to do this a solid A would be in store.
|
B+/A-
He's done a fine job and given us stability at the position. He's done exactly what has been asked of him. |
Hey Todd Haley, we don't do this quarter shit anymore. B for Smith.
|
B/B+...given the F- that was last year at the qb position, Smith has been quite the improvement so far.
|
See Mac and Maverick, we DON'T hate Alex...we just needed proof before downing a big glass of Smiff kool aid.
|
B-. Not too impressed but I can't say I expect much more.
|
4-0 = A
|
B
|
Solid B. He is a good quarterback.
Surround him with talent and he wins. He is not a Romo or Cutler who will make mistakes at critical times, or an Eli who is feast or famine. He can direct the playmakers to do their things and doesn't shoot his team in the foot. |
Incomplete.
I need to see more of him before I can judge him as a quarterback. There had to be a reason why Harbaugh went with Kaepernick over him, so there are these lingering doubts that I have about his QB ability even though he's been very consistent and successful over the past two plus seasons. However, I will jump on the bandwagon as more people vocalize his positives as a Chief. One more win should do it. /CP Doomsayer |

B- first three games an A today. |
Quote:
Keep in mind that the 49ers also dumped Cooper who looked pretty good today. |
Let's see... 4-0. Does a solid job of managing the game... has constructed long fourth quarter drives...
I'd say B+ |
Solid B :thumb:

Shitty Oline running game absent for 3 quarters mediocre wide receivers Left tackle leading the universe in penalties oh ya .. you're being realistic |

I love me some Alex...but the 4 games were not all A or even B games. He did enough to win though. The good new is that I think he is getting better every game. |

If you look at just his play I'd give him a B+. But if you consider the O-Line is Sub-par, the receivers are scrubs, we're on our 3 and 4th TEs and our running game was almost non existent today I gave him a solid A. Honestly how can you give him anything less? They are 4-0. Enough said.

B with the arrow pointing up

I can't give the guy anything but an A when he's 4-0 and on pace for those kinda numbers.
I see what some of you are saying about areas for improvement, but if we get technical here an A is 96.9% – 93%. That's not perfect, and leaves plenty of room for improvement. A+ is 97% - 100% which means you're either damn near perfect or perfect indeed. Those are the elite. We all knew Alex wasn't elite when we got him, so if he's dancing around just below that and can continue to do I'll definitely be happy. |
F+. He doesn't throw deep enough, he only gets the plus because the team is 4-0.

We are on pace for 19-0.
|
A. He's QB for a shocker of a 4-0 team. His running ability has kept so many drives alive.
|
B. Be sensible here.
A+ is Peyton. Maybe Rodgers and, IDK, 1 or 2 other guys? Haven't checked the stats. A is 65% and a much better threat to challenge the defense at the 2nd level. I guess you could argue B+, but whatever. |
Gotta go with an A.
He has surpassed all my expectations thus far. On pace for a 28 td season, not too shabby. 4-0 is awesome. His scrambling has added an extra dimension to the offense that keeps drives alive. If he didn't have the picks today I'd have slotted him with an A+. |
B. He has been pretty good but he could definitely improve in areas. The reason we are undefeated is because of Bob Sutton and the defense and the special teams unit.
|
B+
He gets into A territory with more throws that stretch the field like we watched in the second half, but I feel guilty even saying that... so he's mostly thrown medium to short, who cares, its been working. |
C+
I don't round up. He is what we thought he is. |
I give him a B/B+. He is playing good football despite crappy O-Line play and lack of running game. He is also lights out in the 4th quarter. My only concern is the fact that we can't seem to score much offensively in quarters 1-3. His play in the 4th quarter is fantastic when we have a lead, but can he keep up with a higher scoring team (ala Denver) in a shootout? Against a team like that we can't afford 3 quarters of meh offense.

In total, excellent game from Smith today. If this is the version of Alex Smith that we consistently get going forward, we're in for a very fun ride, and we'll have a legit 4-5 year window to make a run at a SB.
Prior to today, he had flashes of excellence, but today was a more fulsome body of high-quality work; he was a major reason for the dismantling of NY. |
