The Dolphins continued their offseason youth movement along the defensive line Saturday by trading veteran defensive tackle Dan Wilkinson to the Denver Broncos for Denver's sixth-round pick in next month's draft, according to a Broncos'-released press release.

The 6-foot-4, 340-pound Wilkinson, 33, who was signed by the Dolphins prior to the 2006 season to back up nose tackle Keith Traylor, appeared in 10 games. He had 14 tackles, three pass breakups and one forced fumble.

The Dolphins have already released defensive end Kevin Carter, 33, and have not signed free-agent defensive linemen David Bowens, 29, Traylor, 37, and Jeff Zgonina, 36. They also cut second-year defensive tackle Keith Vickerson on Friday.

I admit it. I'm jealous of Denver's front office's aggressive nature

Funny either has Big daddys game for the last 4 years.

Funny thing is... Shanahan was still calling plays for the 49ers when Big Daddy was drafted. Damn he's old. Have I said that already?

Halfcan 03-03-2007 02:24 PM

Big Daddy Dan has never done anything but sit on his fatazz and collect a check. Wasn't he a #1 pick for the Bungholes-or am thinking of another lazy fatazz??

Valiant 03-03-2007 02:25 PM

Great pickup imo to help your line, especially for a 6th...

Halfcan 03-03-2007 02:28 PM

I thought Denver was only interested in Cleveland Scrubs?

Mile High Mania 03-03-2007 02:44 PM

Yeah, I dunno... I guess Jim Bates thinks he has something left in the tank. Doesn't do much for me at this point...

stevieray 03-03-2007 02:47 PM

who gives a damn...I'm just waiting for us to sign someone so I can go to the drane.

He's a big-bodied space-eater, which is what Bates is supposed to like in the middle of his lines. It seems with how aggressive Shanny is attempting to be at this point, there aren't going to be very many open roster spots for 6th-round picks this year, so this doesn't appear to be a bad move at this point on paper.

Mile High Mania 03-03-2007 03:14 PM

On paper, no I agree and the price isn't much... it's just that he's my age. I hope it works out.
