If Krispy Kreme really cared about the vets, they would refuse to serve them.

You know what they say: betcha can't eat just one.

CaliforniaChief 11-01-2010 08:05 PM

I honestly thought Krispy Kreme was completely out of business.

I've done it before but it makes me feel weird. like I'm just there for the free meal, which I am.

You earned that meal from a grateful nation. It wasn't free. You put yourself in harms way to defend the homeland. At the very least you deserve a free breakfast at Hy-Vee.

The St. Joseph Community Chorus I sing in is having a performance @ the Missouri Theater Nov 7th, 3pm.

The show is free to veterans.

Veterans day is kinda a sad day for me. My dad was a Vietnam vet, died many years later. But I think Vietnam kinda slowly killed him, he wouldn't ever talk about it, but the few times he would you just knew that he went through some shit. He received a Silver Star and a Purple Heart and I have no idea why. All I know is that he flew helicopters. I asked him once when I was a kid if he ever killed anybody over there and he just said "I dunno"

Phobia 11-01-2010 10:11 PM

I should pig out that day. Learned a few new places to ask for anytime discounts thanks to this post. Thanks.

Glad to see Hy-Vee is doing breakfast again that was good last year. Too bad the other veteran I shared it with last year has had a stroke, and has memory problems. Glad to see that we are not forgotten.

Silver star.

Wow. It's unfortunate the horrors your dad probably saw kept him from tellling you at least how he earned that medal. You might be able to do some research on the matter; you'd think there would be a list and details or something.
