Flooding!

Serious flooding in the Chicago area today. Rivers flooded, several interstates flooded, streets flooded everywhere, schools closed. I can't get to work because I can't get to the train platform (tunnel under the tracks flooded, roads to the other side flooded, fence blocks the tracks on the top). Worst I've seen it in years. And it's still raining like hell.

Can't see any major streets from my house, but this lake is normally a golf course. Normally no standing water at all. We've had about 5" of rain.

And here in Liberty, my pond is still 2 feet low from the drought

Wow, that's a lot of water. Is your house safely situated on high ground?

Yeah, I'm good. Nothing standing near me. I probably should check the basement, though.

There's a retention pond up the street, it's higher than I've ever seen it in the 12 years I've lived here. It might overtake the street if this keeps up.

I'm watching the local news right now, flooding everywhere. It's crazy.

At least you have a pond.

I haven't gotten 5" total accumulated over the last 10 months.

I wish you'd pipe that out here.

Buehler445 04-18-2013 07:42 AM

In all seriousness, stay safe bud. It doesn't look like it's done yet.

You're welcome to it.

We're supposed to get another 2" as well.

By the way, can you go the CBOT and tell all those bastard traders that there is no way the farmers can plant corn in the I states for at least 3 weeks? That'd be great. Thanks.

Thanks. Shouldn't impact me directly, other than being stuck at home.

As someone that went through the 2010 floods (4 feet of water in my house) in Nashville my thoughts to you and yours. Hope you can stay dry.

Ouch. I won't have anything to deal with anything like that. Not in or close to a flood plain.
