Eddie Vedder still butt-hurt over Seattle Supersonics

The Oklahoma City Thunder is in its sixth season in the city, but Seattle resident and Pearl Jam lead singer Eddie Vedder still has some hurt in his heart toward losing his beloved Seattle Supersonics.

Performing at the Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte last Wednesday, Vedder had some choice words about the Supersonics moving to Oklahoma City in 2008. The Charlotte Observer’s review of Vedder’s performance said “Vedder’s patter was kept to a minimum, but left an impression.”

“He made light of the fact that Pearl Jam hadn’t been through Charlotte in 10 years: ‘To be honest, we might be a bit upset because you have a basketball team and we don’t.’”
Bitter much? The Lost Ogle obtained video of Vedder’s expletive-laden ramblings, complete with the grunge rock godfather replacing the word Thunder with a similar-sounding cuss word. Many times (WARNING: Inappropriate language).

Vedder’s Oklahoma connection runs deep, as the original name for Pearl Jam was “Mookie Blaylock.” Yes, Vedder first named the band after the former OU guard.

The best part about Vedder’s basketball-fueled rant? Pearl Jam is slated to perform in Oklahoma City at the Chesapeake Energy Arena Nov. 16. What are the odds Vedder sees his fair share of Thunder T-shirts as he looks out into the crowd?

Vedder usually has something to say. Rarely is it worth listening to.

Didn't he move to Seattle when he was 26? He can't seriously have that big of a connection with them.

Ask me what the lead singer of the Bullet Boys thinks about something. I might actually listen or even care.

Many of us still have hard feelings about the move. Ya it sucked they left but it was how they left that really sucked. Lies by the NBA, city council members, Howard Shultz and most notably the "Thunder" ownership.

I've hashed this thing over so many times on this site with so many people I'm just gonna say "this".
