Best way to go about selling Blu-Rays / DVDs?

I had a bad habit of buying DVDs and Blu-Rays and never even watching them. I only have a select few I want to keep and have around 150 or so I want to sell.

Among these are about 20-30 Criterion movies.

Do you think the Criterions I should sell as a lot or individually?

Is Craigslist my best option or is ebay better?

If anyone has sold their collection of DVDs before, I'd appreciate the help.

SAUTO 12-24-2012 08:38 PM

Chuck them down the road. About all they are worth.

I would be willing to see what you have and maybe buy a few of them. You could PM some titles if you like.

Buck 12-24-2012 10:58 PM

They are usually movies that don't get funded to go on DVD by major studios or something.

Criterion is a company that does that and they print very short runs of the DVD and include a shit ton of Extras.

lewdog 12-24-2012 11:04 PM

I just looked some up on Amazon and those are pretty expensive. I am cheap so I might be out on those ones except for Life Aquatic. I ****ing love that movie.

dmahurin 12-24-2012 11:10 PM

I've bought about 150 blu rsys off of eBay. The way most people buy on there is on small lots of 3-7 movies based around a genre. I spent on average around 4 or 5 bucks per movie in lots like that.

Cool, I'll probably do that then.

kcxiv 12-25-2012 04:26 AM

ooh Dazed and Confused. Classic, movie came out when i got finished with High School. I think 95?

My bad sept of 93. i was a Senior

lewdog 12-25-2012 08:05 AM

Let me know some of the rest that you have and I would definitely be down for buying a small lot of movies.

phisherman 12-25-2012 08:17 AM

I'd love to get the Robocop and For All Mankind from you unless you're going to eBay all of them.

Fire Me Boy! 12-25-2012 08:19 AM

Please do not Craigslist or eBay them until you've given the folks here a run at 'em! :D

I'll go through your list today and let you know what I might be interested in.

Agreed with this. Set up a list... maybe on a Google doc or something.

Not true. Criterion focuses on what they consider important and/or groundbreaking movies, or what they say are "the defining moments of cinema" or something like that. They do amazing transfers and generally have incredible extra features.

That said, they have a love affair with Wes Anderson (seriously, WTF?), and occasionally come out with strange releases (Armageddon? The Rock? Seriously, WTF?).

phisherman 12-25-2012 08:30 AM

The inclusion of the Michael Bay films is a bit of a head scratcher.

lewdog 12-25-2012 08:54 AM

I called first dibs assholes and Life Aquatic is surely mine!

Oh and Merry Christmas to all!

ROFL

Thanks! I was worried.

Bump 12-25-2012 12:41 PM

garage sale, sell them for a buck or 2 a piece. I stopped buying those things a long time ago. Unless it's a movie that I love and know I will watch it again.

Demonpenz 12-25-2012 01:38 PM

I got 3 dollars from them from a pawn shop.

Buck 12-25-2012 03:27 PM

Here are the rest of the Blu-Ray movies that aren't Criterion.

PM me if you're interested in anything. I also have a shit load of TV seasons on Blu-Ray and DVD. Not sure if there is any interest in that.

It makes me sad that so many of these are new... it's like you've never let them live.

Buck 12-25-2012 04:38 PM

Only like 35 of the 100+ are new. Plus I have netflix and I streamed a lot of them so I never had a use for watching the discs.

Buck 12-25-2012 05:03 PM

lewdog is my first victim.

Who else wants some money stolen from them?

What do you want for Broadcast News?

Are you offering any "lots", and what are you asking for those? If the price is right, I'm interested in several of your Google list.

Buck 12-25-2012 06:45 PM

I think that lewdog will vouch, I sent him 7 movies at an average of under $4 before shipping.

The Criterion ones I'm asking for a little more.

Broadcast News would be $14.

8 movies and right near $4 a movie.

I can't vouch yet as I have not received them. :D

lcarus 12-27-2012 11:12 AM

Speaking of collecting movies you really like and know you'll watch again...doesn't it piss you off when you get a movie that is part of your collection and it has one or more stickers on it that are hard as hell to get off?

Buck 12-27-2012 09:17 PM

Alright I have received a lot of PMs on this, and I've been busy as hell at work. Tomorrow is supposed to be my day off, but I just found out I'm working, so I'll do my best to answer everyone's questions. People have been asking what TV Series I have...I'm going to post these tonight.

In my experience, selling each individual movie on ebay has been the best profit-turner.

Don't feel like doing that if I don't have to. I didn't mean to use CP as a site to sell my shit on, but since it's happening, I'll donate a cut.

lewdog 12-31-2012 07:02 PM

In case anyone is doubting my man Buck here, I figured I would post this. I just received my 8 DVDs I bought from him and wow, just wow.

Not a single disk looks like it has ever been touched. Not a mark, smudge or scratch anywhere to be seen. They all look brand new.

Buck ****ing rocks!

Buck 12-31-2012 07:04 PM

I don't **** around.

The Bad Guy 01-01-2013 08:17 PM

What about Amazon? Fees seem a lot less than ebay.

I think they have a lot of fees. I tried selling something on there once, wasn't satisfied.
