Oh I don't blame people with that. I think ESPN having an entire hour to LeBron was over the top and pathetic. But...guess what? ESPN got the ratings they wanted and that's what it's all about. It was dramatic, but ESPN was smart to do it.

But at the same time, I don't understand why people hate LeBron? What has he done wrong? Did he rape a girl? No. We'll save that for Kobe.

I don't hate Lebron, or Kobe.

But I understand why Cleveland fans would be pissed off at Lebron.

they should have done A LOT more when they had the chance.

7 years with the kid and they essentially made very little/no moves on a championship level.

I would have left too and the way that owner and others took it (and more importantly how they responded) shows such a glaring lack of class that it was evident that Lebron deserved a better situation. I just think he would have done MUCH better if he had chosen to go to Chicago and I really dont like the Bulls.

That roster in Chicago with Lebron added could have been ready a lot sooner than Miami IMO.

But I hope they understand that this was in the best interest of LeBron. In this situation, the player comes before the city. Because he is bigger than the city.

I mean, I guess I could compare it too....If Tony Gonzalez left KC as a FA at age 28. And he wanted to win a title, but knew it wouldn't happen in KC. I would be sad, but I couldn't hold it against him if I knew the rest of the team is utter shit.

They should be pissed off at the Cav's organization. 6 years too late Shaq, Antawn Jamison, Mo Williams, and Ben Wallace was the best they could do to bring in help??

This ones not on LeBron. They can be pissed about being the quasi-fat prude chick who was dumped at the prom in front of the whole school, but they can't be pissed at LeBron for dating the hotter chick who is going to bang him.

Open Letter to Fans from Cavaliers Majority Owner Dan Gilbert

Dear Cleveland, All Of Northeast Ohio and Cleveland Cavaliers Supporters Wherever You May Be Tonight;

As you now know, our former hero, who grew up in the very region that he deserted this evening, is no longer a Cleveland Cavalier.

This was announced with a several day, narcissistic, self-promotional build-up culminating with a national TV special of his "decision" unlike anything ever "witnessed" in the history of sports and probably the history of entertainment.

Clearly, this is bitterly disappointing to all of us.

The good news is that the ownership team and the rest of the hard-working, loyal, and driven staff over here at your hometown Cavaliers have not betrayed you nor NEVER will betray you.

There is so much more to tell you about the events of the recent past and our more than exciting future. Over the next several days and weeks, we will be communicating much of that to you.

You simply don't deserve this kind of cowardly betrayal.

You have given so much and deserve so much more.

In the meantime, I want to make one statement to you tonight:

"I PERSONALLY GUARANTEE THAT THE CLEVELAND CAVALIERS WILL WIN AN NBA CHAMPIONSHIP BEFORE THE SELF-TITLED FORMER ‘KING’ WINS ONE"

You can take it to the bank.

If you thought we were motivated before tonight to bring the hardware to Cleveland, I can tell you that this shameful display of selfishness and betrayal by one of our very own has shifted our "motivation" to previously unknown and previously never experienced levels.

Some people think they should go to heaven but NOT have to die to get there.

Sorry, but that's simply not how it works.

This shocking act of disloyalty from our home grown "chosen one" sends the exact opposite lesson of what we would want our children to learn. And "who" we would want them to grow-up to become.

But the good news is that this heartless and callous action can only serve as the antidote to the so-called "curse" on Cleveland, Ohio.

The self-declared former "King" will be taking the "curse" with him down south. And until he does "right" by Cleveland and Ohio, James (and the town where he plays) will unfortunately own this dreaded spell and bad karma.

Just watch.

Sleep well, Cleveland.

Tomorrow is a new and much brighter day....

I PROMISE you that our energy, focus, capital, knowledge and experience will be directed at one thing and one thing only:

DELIVERING YOU the championship you have long deserved and is long overdue....

Dan Gilbert
Majority Owner
Cleveland Cavaliers

I love the comic sans of his original letter, so I had to add it for awesomeness.

BossChief 07-09-2010 11:59 AM

When I read that BS on ESPN last night, I LITERALLY  'd him

what a ****ing joke of an owner

Amnorix 07-09-2010 12:01 PM

Anyone else read about the "China agreement" and that Chris Paul will join this new big 3 when he becomes a FA. That really would set up the dynasty.

I have to say, I thought Chicago was a better fit for LeBron, and I'm not at all sure that LeBron has the right pieces around him to win a championship. He'd be better with top shelf point guard and center instead of another scorer and Bosh. We'll see.

An absolute embarassment. Really and truly. I pity Cleveland sports fans. What the hell did they ever do to deserve what they have suffered for 50 years. Modell and now this guy. Oy vey.

KCrockaholic 07-09-2010 12:07 PM

That letter is just sad. What a moron.

I grew up in South Florida. Went to my first Heat game when they had Rony Seikaly & Glen Rice. At the old Miami Arena. Went to the AAA when it first opened, watched Tim Hardaway & Zo & Keith Askins & Jamal Mashburn & Thunder Dan. Went through the years when the free agent acquisitions were Otis Thorpe & Terry Porter.

But, yeah, I'm a bandwagon fan. What other bandwagons have I jumped on?

the florida marlins and tampa bay rays both come to mind. you don't give a shit about either of them when they're shitty (note, you call yourself a rays fan now that the marlins suck, and you were never a DEVIL RAYS fan), but you're all over their junk when it's convenient to you.

They need another good rebounder, a clutch 3 point shooter (with those three out there they need a guy to take the wide open threes from the corner every game), and a defensive specialist. Just as a start.

That team should be really good, but it isn't gonna happen overnight IMO.

They have a chance to be one of the best teams in NBA history though if they can play as a team and add the role players they will need.

In time.

Something that folks keep forgetting: The Lockout.

The rumblings are that they'll eliminate the MLE.

So with those 3 guys and few parts around them, what happens when they can't use the MLE to bring in supporting talent? Either a bunch of old dudes at the veterans minimum or they'll have to draft like a MFer.

Because with nobody currently on their roster, they won't even have any good expiring contracts for sign/trade deals to bring in talent.

This is a very very ballsy way to build a team and it absolutely could backfire on them.

Don't crown their asses just yet.

CaliforniaChief 07-09-2010 12:16 PM

Rony Seikaly waiting by his phone for the call from Pat Riley.

Veteran's Minimum FTW!

JAMES
WADE
MILLER
BOSH

team is coming together. Chalmers is already under contract so that will make 5 players.
