11 minute video on his "comeback".

BossChief 04-21-2013 11:18 PM

Who knows?

Andy Reid took on the Michael Vick reclamation project...

I wonder how he would do with Andy Reid as his coach....2 former first overall picks on the same roster?...who knows, maybe we could coach one of them to fulfill his once deemed high potential.

Dante84 04-21-2013 11:23 PM

God I would love to grab him and beat the Raiders with him.

Would be ****ing priceless.

Dante84 04-21-2013 11:24 PM

Also,

Do not want.

penbrook 04-21-2013 11:29 PM

Hell since stanzi ****ing blows. Who knows I would love to see him get a chance.

That's why you guys have been finishing in the bottom of the division lately. Picking up sloppy seconds off of the Raiders' garbage heap.

mcaj22 04-21-2013 11:30 PM

even out of shape he still has a god gifted cannon that throws a nice ball

its not accurate and cant hit anything, but it comes out floating pretty

well at this point if you are going to be forced with having to watch a crappy QB lead your team during the season... I'd rather the ball come out pretty and miss WRs over their head by 20 yards than the noodle dick wounded duck QBs that throw such weak ugly balls that the WR has to stop for, that I have been used to for the last like 9 years

Jamarcus Russell got a 24 on the Wonderlic. Same score as Geno.

That's why he failed too. Between the ears. Does he have lazy eyes? :)

Lumpy 04-21-2013 11:41 PM

I just watched this earlier today. Very sad.

bring him in, **** it? who care? why not?

RedDread 04-21-2013 11:48 PM

Russell isn't dumb, he was just lazy. He didn't keep himself in shape and by all accounts didn't put the prep work in that is required of a starting QB in the NFL.

Sometimes guys like that hit rock bottom and it really changes them.

Most times not, however.

mcaj22 04-21-2013 11:52 PM

Jamarcus career completion % 52.1

Alex Smith... 59.3

lol

His mom asked him what do you want to do. After he hit rock bottom and he said football. He asked Jeff Garcia to help him and they have been training constantly and now he's lost 45 pounds and down to 270. He really wants a second chance and wants to prove why he was drafted #1.

That is dumb.

Using the transitive property, I can then conclude that Russell is indeed dumb.

I would say that right there is the difference between being dumb and a dumbass.

Russell by all accounts is a functionally normal human being. But yes he's a dumbass for throwing a golden opportunity away.

Mother****erJones 04-21-2013 11:59 PM

If you don't have the ambition to work out and be the best, you're a ****ing dumbass.

Geno might not pan out, but he has a good work ethic unlike Russell

Fair enough.

I mean, except for when he's on the sizzurp

Lumpy 04-22-2013 12:04 AM

The Good: He housed some Hurricane Katrina evacuees.

The Bad: Purple Drank!

The Ugly: He played for the Raiders.

Bump 04-22-2013 12:04 AM

I think EJ Manuel might be the best QB out of this draft now. They will fix his turn over problems and when they do, holy shit watch out.

I'm off the Geno wagon and on the EJ Manuel. Get a 2nd round pick for Albert ONLY if it means it's EJ Manuel. He'll most likely be long gone by then though..

BossChief 04-22-2013 12:05 AM

Russel and Bowe: taking the tops off of defenses again.

**** it, give Buster Davis a call as well.

Russell might be able to lose more, since he's fatter but I guarantee Williams gets in shape faster.

TLO 04-22-2013 12:33 AM

SPchief 04-22-2013 12:37 AM

Russell got his 2nd pay day thanks to ESPN. Him and his mom are happy now. ESPN took all of the shot's that we saw earlier and made into a 30 for 30.

AussieChiefsFan 04-22-2013 01:19 AM

I really like the guy. It'd be nice to see him come back and succeed somewhere. Not to mention the massive "F U" it would be to the Faiders.

mikey23545 04-22-2013 01:25 AM

I wasn't aware of his backstory, losing the two uncles at such early ages who had been so instrumental in raising him and being his moral compasses. It happened just before all his troubles started, and perhaps it was the prime mover in his downfall.

Who knows, maybe he does have his head straightened out from having Garcia train him. If they can take a look at him for next to nothing, why not?

penbrook 04-22-2013 01:40 AM

Russell is gonna hold individual tryouts for teams that are interested in him.

Showing up to training camp at 300lbs was an asine choice. I understand someone close to you died. Brett favre, Ed Reed and a long list of other NFL's lost someone and used that pain to excel on the football field. Thay was the choice Russell should have made. We all make bad choices and we all have to pay for those choices.

Agreed. However, if me or you lose our uncle, mom, brother etc. our employer will only cut us a break for a little while and then our prior production levels must return. He had two years. He had help and a company that wanted to help him. Me and you will never get two years.

I understand loss of a loved one. But, I don't see any reason to shed tears for the guy. He got $35 million.

notorious 04-22-2013 07:43 AM

He probably killed Al Davis.

He STOLE millions from him. JaFatass would be a filtered name on CP if we would have drafted him.

Now all he needs is for a team to be interested.

He needs to try the Canadian league to prove himself just like his mentor Jeff Garcia.

everyone is different mentally, some it hits harder then others. It also happened during the off season where its alot of downtime for them and they have plenty of time to just sit there and think.

Favre's dad dying happened with the day before the monday night game, so there very little to no time to think, just go n play.

Anyways, shit happens. I know all to good about this. It ****ing SUCKS bad.

Great contribution to this thread. On topic, concise, perfect!

B_Ambuehl 04-22-2013 05:41 PM

In fairness to him it would be hard to throw any QB in that situation and expect them to succeed. During his tenure in Oakland the 'faid probably had the worst offensive line the NFL has seen in the last 10 yrs, easily the worst management in the NFL, and a revolving door at head coach. Hard for a young QB to have a positive attitude in that situation.

I don't know if he's a dumbass, or just that he didn't give a shit. I've read that he had something like 11 people die within those first few years he was in the NFL. Very possible then that he just didn't care about football at the time.

The workouts and the 40 lbs. he's lost show me he's making a sincere effort now though. And since I love redemption stories, am fully rooting for him to make a comeback. At least to get a second chance.

Rain Man 04-22-2013 05:57 PM

Sad stuff, but he blew an opportunity. Many don't get a 2nd chance. Hopefully he's learned from his mistakes. Wonder if he'd get a shot to be a 3rd QB somewhere or atleast be signed to play in the preseason
