Forget the draft for now...is Pioli getting fired?

I want to know how many people voted "no" in the other thread because of the Geno stuff vs. how many people honestly believe Pioli will be back.

Since so many people are referencing it and it's buried 6 pages deep in the SOC thread:

Hell no

BigMeatballDave 12-19-2012 09:32 AM

I'm 80% that he'll be fired. Thanks to Marty's post in the SOC thread.

I was 50/50

dirk digler 12-19-2012 09:33 AM

I am skeptical that he is getting fired. I admit that is probably mostly due to the fact I have been burned by the Chiefs for so many years that I just don't trust them any more.

That's fair. I almost considered including that in my poll for those people that are voting with their emotion.

I can fully understand the feeling, I actually feel it. But when I peel back my angst and look at the situation rationally, he ain't coming back.

hometeam 12-19-2012 09:35 AM

BoneKrusher 12-19-2012 09:35 AM

Yes.
how could Clark or anyone defend Peeoli's record?

KurtCobain 12-19-2012 09:37 AM

I wish, I think it's a duh move, but I doubt it.

Carl was in the middle of a rebuild with a completely unexperienced rosterand zero expectations and even he skipped town with a record like this. Pioli had high expectations this year. Get out.

I read Marty's story and it sounds good and I hope it is true but then I see a picture of Pioli in Oakland and he doesn't look like a guy that knows he is getting fired or was told he was going to be let go.

I will believe it when I see it.

DaKCMan AP, in all his Awesomeness, has met Clark on two occasions. Both times Clark has been kind, gracious, and accommodating. He has never appeared rash, impulsive, or stupid.

Clark is not stupid.

Pioli will not be retained.

He's still getting paid to be on the field shaking hands. DaKCMan AP met Scott on the field pregame when the Chiefs played in Tampa this year. His job pregame is to schmooze, shake hands, take pictures, and be all "Rah-Rah". For the amount of $$ he makes I'm sure he has no trouble putting on this act even with knowledge that he has only 2 performances remaining.

I hope you guys are right I really do. With the Chiefs record and the suckage of this team you would think it would be a no-brainer.

htismaqe 12-19-2012 09:51 AM

Interesting.

Right now the poll with the Geno Smith option is 101/63 yes vs. no, or 61.6% positive.

This poll is 19/6 yes vs. no, or 76% positive. The Geno Smith option isn't as much of a difference maker that I thought it would be, at least not yet.

I don't think Pioli being here next year or not impacts the decision to draft a QB. With all the shit that's happened this year and the embarrassing play from all the QBs I think Clark will pull rank and go all Jerry Jones with the QB situation.

Chiefnj2 12-19-2012 09:56 AM

At the end of the day it's a business. If Scott is making as much money for Clark that some reported, then his job might be safe. A new QB will give the fans some faith. They will come back to the stadium and Scott can keep the coins rolling.

It's a business, and billionaires care about money. You know what else billionaires care about? Image. Right now the Chiefs are the laughingstock of the NFL. They're an embarrassment that reflects directly upon Clark. He's got to be seething.

Around 14 million of cap space, bad GM or cheap ass owner? I know you shouldn't spend money just to spend money, but with such a shitty team you would think they could find some players that can help with that.

chance of Pioli being that GM?

40% chance Pioli stays

Be that as it may, Clark sees the writing on the wall. If the Chiefs reputation means anything to him (I believe it does) he will do the right thing and blow this thing up. If Pioli is retained, it would rank at the top of the list of most stupid business decisions ever

40% that Pioli stays still means that there is a 60% chance he's gone.

more than likely he is gone

Pioli ran under the salary cap and clean the dead money, some GM wouldn't want to do that. We are talking hundreds of millions of dollars since Pioli signed on.
