My point is getting muddled by my anger because people keep slaming me because of the show. Look, if I am in danger then yes cut in to tell me to take cover. But to go on and on, cutting in 5 times and taking up an hour to tell me what he is just going to repeat during the news is too much. Tell me accross the bottom, do not interupt the show.
We do have A LOT of thunderstorms around KC. Are you saying it is ok to cut in everytime it storms so the weatherman can give us details about it? I don't think it is ok. I think it is wrong. If you disagree or don't care just because you hate the show that is your opinion and we disagree. I didn't start with the name calling, but I am not affraid to offer some back.

If it is severe enough, if there is a wall cloud with a possible tornado, high winds, etc., then yes it is.

You see, by them cutting in they can show the radar and people can tell where the storm is and where it's heading. This gives people time to take shelter and prepare for it. A little teeny-tiny map on the bottom of the screen doesn't really do it.

By doing so in intervals they can keep people updated and show how the storm has changed.

It's pretty basic, really ...

Bring your A game if you're wanting to trade cyber slaps, Barbi.

Maybe our neighborhood weatherman will be more elegant in its presentation, but a Thunderstorm is a different Animal than tornadic activity......that can and DOES kill people without warning....

Early Warning for severe storms saves lives....Lives of people neither You nor I actually know.....My tv was buzzing for an hour after the storm passed the area I live in, but I didn't complain.......If it got 1(ONE)(UNO) person out of danger.....thats fine by me...

have YOU ever been in a tornado? I've been through 2...1 as a kid, and one in college.

I'm far more irritated by the 4minutes of commercials every 8 minutes of a sitcom....

PS.....this is a STUPID thing for you to be going down a defcon over.....

I believe I already stated that if it is severe I will read it on the bottom of the screen and take cover. That is the only point I have that has now been squashed into the ground. I just don't feel that cutting in does anyone any better than telling us about it at the bottom of the screen.
How about if I agree with the weatherman cutting in but he only has 5 minutes? I am ok with 5 minutes, I just don't like a whole hour.

I thought I had a pretty good explanation why a scroll on the bottom of the screen isn't that effective:

Once again, it seems pretty simple IMHO.

Yeah, but he's so much better at it.

Mark, they can scroll on the bottom and tell people where the storm is and to take cover if necess. or whatever. Busby did it on channel 12 and I thought it was fine.

Iowanian 05-01-2003 11:55 AM

Five minutes is fine for the first location...but storms aren't "Static"...they are dynamic.(move and change).

What, pray tell is your suggestion for those in the path of a changing and moving storm cell? Do they get warning or do they get to die because you want to see what Zora says in the pool?

That is why its on so much...Its a broad and changing area....and every person in that area has the right to fair warning.....Just running it on the bottom may not be enough....What about those say....washing dishes in another room or working on a baby?

My issue isn't with your choice of viewing pleasure....Its more that you put more worth on that, than proper warning of OTHER people.

hey Mark, in my opinion it is hopefully, the silliest conversation I have the rest of the day.

Actually, Busby cut in several times, as did every single station in KC.
