I saw this on Twitter....

No obit for Tom Clancy will be acceptable unless it includes a 1,500 word sidebar about the education and upbringing of the coroner…

Loved his earlier, "classic" stuff. The last Clancy I read was "Teeth of the Tiger," and it was awful.

He had become a "brand name," and much like James Michener and James Patterson, I think he wound up sketching broad plot outlines and let co-authors write the books, then he would slap his name at the top and reap the money.

Hunt for Red October still my favorite...Think you are correct with your final analysis.

Frazod 10-02-2013 09:49 AM

My personal favorite is Without Remorse. The pressure chamber bit really sticks with you.

Damn, he was young.

Fantastic writer.

I'm pretty sure the cubans are behind his death. There will be an invasion soon.

Skyy God 10-02-2013 10:09 AM

Clear and Present Danger..... of being deceased.

He lost the Hunt for One More October.

Skyy God 10-02-2013 10:37 AM

Rainbow Six Feet Under.

Dead or Alive (or just Dead).

Donger 10-02-2013 11:40 AM

That's a shame. Hope he rests in peace.

I developed a James Patterson "co-author" book into a feature. Total nightmare.
