You're probably correct.

If you'll notice his trees were not tall and straight as a normal "Timber Walnut" tends to appear. He's growing Walnuts that have been bred to produce a meaty product that's easy to harvest. There is a pretty substantial difference.

we have 6 yr olds crack them here

tooge 10-04-2012 02:43 PM

I crack em with a hammer like the guy in the second video. those two videos show the two different types. Now, get your ass back to supervising 6 year old walnut crackers

If you smack one of those black walnuts like that walnut expert guy did, your little wooden hammer deal would bounce off, hit you in the face, put your eyes out, and you would be blind for the rest of your entire life ... and you still wouldn't have any walnut meat to eat.

An old timer would stop by my place and collect buckets. he said something bout spreading them out, letting them dry. Then put them in an old cloths dryer....not sure.

Google is your friend.

My parents dump theirs in their driveway and run over them with the cars for a couple weeks. It works well - it takes the hull off, but the tires don't crack the shell of the nut.

What a bunch of pussies, we peel them by hand here

Or jack your car up so you have about an inch between the tires and the ground. Have someone gun it and you feed them in between. They go flying but you get the walnut out.

LMAO
