I'll see it. I've always been a fan of Sam Raimi (even without Bruce Campbell).

This could be a great movie if they use more of the source material than the Judy Garland movie. I already saw a bit of that in the trailer. I'll take the kids to this.

Judging by the trailer it's far from a re-make which is good. Is that dude supposed to become Oz, the bumbling fat dude behind the curtain?

that is what I took away from it. I would imagine, if this does well, we will see a remake of the original.

Love me sum Sam Raimi....althought this looks a little "Tim Burton" like.


Love the effect of how it starts out boxy 1:37 to 1 then opens up wide once they get to Oz. A few other movies that used this effect were Galaxy Quest and Horse Whisperer if you saw them in theaters. The home video versions took it out.

When I was little I used to have re-occurring nightmares about those flying monkeys snatching me up to take me away.

When I was little, the entrance of the flying monkeys was when we'd shut the show off and watch The Dukes of Hazzard.

If they get pissed it's only because they didn't read any of the books, and the original movie already ****ed with a classic. If anything this looks like an attempt to be more true to the source material.

Hollywood ****ed up the story to begin with. You fell in love with a Judy Garland vehicle. Maybe now you can see and appreciate the actual story.

**** disney!! freaking horrible idea to try to do something with the best movie ever made!! god damnit i hate the way movies are being done these days... There hasnt been an epic movie that will be remembered, other than avatar, for the past 10-15 years if feels like, jesus...

If you're outraged by this, chill the **** out. While it's derivative of the original source material for Oz (L. Frank Baum's work), it's clearly not a remake of the first film. It's an exploration of that same universe. Looks like an origin story of the Wizard, which I'm very interested in seeing. Are you pissed that Wicked exists, too?

Can I still watch this and listen to Pink Floyd?

There's several of these coming out soon. ABC is working on a miniseries based on the book Wicked, while there's a film in the words for the musical version of Wicked (and they are remarkably different stories).

Not surpised. Once Upon a Time has hoped the door for a lot more fantasy on television.

Stealing ideas? The Wizard of Oz was taken from a book. The 'original' was stolen. And it's not like they're removing guns and replacing them with radios, ala Spielberg here. This is a genuinely 'new' story.

This isn't touching a classic. Hell, it's not even expounding on it.

This is a freakin' cool idea and has been put in the hands of some very qualified people (both the director and the actors).

To not make this movie just because the first one was great is nuts. This appears to be a very good movie in its own right.

I'll probably go see it.

When I was a kid in Catholic junior high we had to sing songs for one of our recitals from another Oz remake: The Qiz.

I just want to stick up for Spielberg. He's gone on the record saying he regrets doing that, and the Blu-Ray that was recently released is the original theatrical cut, not digital enhancements, no CGI added.

We're not talking about the diabolical evil of Lucas making Greedo shoot first. We're talking about a guy who got caught up in the moment and made a mistake.

Awesome can't wait to see this.

Just watched it today with the kids. It was pretty good. I thought Raimi would water down his style, but was pleasantly surprised how much of a true Raimi movie it was. It had a few intense scenes that would scare younger children.

We saw it this afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed it. One thing to consider if you see it (or any movie) in 3D; sit back farther from the screen than you normally would. I think the 3D effect is better than if you sit too close to the screen.

(FTR, I'm someone who likes to sit in the lower third of a theater because I like for a screen to fill my entire field of vision, but in a 3D movie you lose some of the effect because of your eyes moving around.)

We didn't see it in 3D because I have grown to hate 3D. But this would have been a fun movie to see in that format. Good movie, better than I expected.

Saw it today. Really good. Our daughters liked it except for the beginning black and white part. And our younger daughter was scared of the witch

The wifey and I are about to see this now. Looking forward to it.

We loved it. It was visually amazing and the 3D was refreshing. It's usually choppy but this was impressive. Great acting and great family film.

I saw this yesterday at Union Station with my wifey. I enjoyed it. The 3D takes some getting used to. But Mila Kunis wears tight black leather pants in 3D....daddy likey!!!

The 3D was awesome. Theatre was packed. Good to see.
